Who is this 2012 Evac? -Derik 15:58, 13 November 2011 (EST)

I think it's a cyberverse toy which is presently unlinked on the DOTM toyline page. There was a prototype shown at NYCC. --abates 16:04, 13 November 2011 (EST)
That's Evac from Transformers: The Ride. And Thierry Coup says he's a pre-existing character. Near as I can tell it's movie Evac despite being a car. -Derik 16:25, 13 November 2011 (EST)
He doesn't say he's the same Evac as the original. He just says there have been other Evacs. --ItsWalky 16:36, 13 November 2011 (EST)
Ah, I see. The obnoxious habit of non-geek of referring to characters from completely different universes as if they were the same.
...except he says he's based on Evac, who's always been a helicopter. So in what sense is he "a character who existed in mythology for many years but never really became a big character"? This isn't even a redux of the other two Evacs, it's just an old name slapped on a new character-- but he makes a big deal about there being a connection there.
Either way the comment reads... quite oddly. Are we sure he's not the 5-year-old-now movie Evac character?
(I suppose it's pointless to speculate ahead of the facts. The techspec will likely settle if they're the same guy. Otherwise assume different.) -Derik 17:07, 13 November 2011 (EST)
He's talking about "character" the same way Hasbro talks about "character", like that time they said Armada Overload had been a truck. - Chris McFeely 18:22, 13 November 2011 (EST)
Yes, but in this case the Evac he's referring to is now a car. There's an internal cognitive dissonance there; "characters are defined by their altmode... and this is a different altmode, but he's still Evac."
It's just weird. I'm not saying it means anything, but it is weird. -Derik 20:27, 13 November 2011 (EST)
