Earl Kress (1951 - September 19, 2011) was an American writer. In addition to Transformers, he also wrote episodes of Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain (both of which netted him a Daytime Emmy), Road Rovers, and Kim Possible. He was also one of the scriptwriters on The Fox and the Hound.

In 2011, Kress passed away at age 60 after a battle with cancer. Right before he died, his final writing work was the animated films, Tom & Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes, which was released in 2010 and Tom & Jerry in the Wonderful World of Oz which was released a couple weeks right before he died.
