Underground ruins.
Synopsis

Koji's father, Dr. Onishi, oversees a drilling operation, digging underground to a new energy source within a buried castle. But his equipment starts to malfunction as the apparatus hits some form of electronic shielding. The scene fades out, and is revealed to be a dream the doctor had in the captivity of the Predacons. The Predacons are dissatisfied with the amount of information they've obtained from their prisoner, but Megatron orders Scourge to take the Decepticons and investigate the location.

Meanwhile, Side Burn does what he usually does, chasing Kelly in the hopes of scoring with her sports car. At Cybertron Base, T-AI reports that she has extracted information on the ruins Dr. Onishi was excavating, and the suspicion is that they contain something from Cybertron. The Build Team is called in to be briefed. They recall that the last time they were excavating in that area, they experienced disturbing hallucinations and began seeing each other as Predacons; Wedge resolves that this time, they won't let hallucinations fool them. When reports come in that the Decepticons have been sighted in the area, T-AI dispatches the Spy Changers, Autobot Brothers, and Team Bullet Train to protect the work.
Above the ruins, the Spy Changers confront the Decepticons. Armorhide and Rollbar stay to fight, while the other Decepticons head underground and encounter the Autobot Brothers. Though they escape the brothers, Railspike and Rapid Run arrive and Movor and Ro-Tor are left to fight them. Ultra Magnus interferes and unintentionally floods the subway tunnel.

The Build Team begin to hear ghostly voices as their digging nears the ruins, and begin to hallucinate Predacons again. When Heavy Load contacts HQ, Optimus says he believes the hallucinations are caused by Cybertronian radiation. Elsewhere in the tunnels, Side Burn is drawn away from the others when he sees a subway train as a line of red sports cars, and Sky-Byte, looking for the Decepticons, chows down on a subway car in the belief it's a cake. He also locates Mega-Octane and Scourge, who have reunited with the other Decepticons, and begins tailing them.

Underground, the Build Team find the ruins, suspended in a mysterious underground lake of green liquid with stone replicas of Transformer heads around it. The rest of the assembled cast also flow towards the ruins, brought there by either hallucinations or the flow of water. The Decepticons, Build Team, and Team Bullet Train all transform into their larger combined forms. Prime even shows up to combine with Ultra Magnus.
Scourge fires toward Omega Prime, and the missiles are stopped before hitting the ruins by a force field. Scourge steps closer to the ruins, which prompts them to begin to crumble as the platform they sit on rises out of the water, revealed to be a vast metal fortress adorned with an Autobot symbol...

Quotes
Koji: I can't remember how long it's been.
X-Brawn: You mean since he started chasing that red car? It's been over two hours.
- —Two hours, twenty-seven episodes...same thing, really.
X-Brawn: All right, that's far enough. Not another step.
Prowl: This area is restricted!
Side Burn: Besides, we don't like you.
- —The Autobot Brothers lay down the law.
"There's something wrong with me, I keep having bad headaches."
"Maybe if you quit pounding your head, it will stop."
- —Wedge consults Dr. Hightower.
"Look at that! A delicious cake in the subway! Well, I am kind of hungry."
- —Side Burn sees red sports cars, everyone else sees an enemy, Sky-Byte sees a cake. What that says about him, we're not sure.
Wedge: Look at that. It's some sort of castle or something. What do you think is so important about it?
Heavy Load: I dunno, but I really like what they've done with the place.
- —Heavy Load appreciates good housekeeping, even 1.2 miles below the surface of the Earth.
Ultra Magnus: Nice to see you. But I don't need your help, I can handle this. I'm doing fine on my own.
Optimus Prime: I know, but right now we have to unite to prevent them from getting to the ruins.
Magnus: I've never taken orders from you, Optimus, and I'm not about to start now.
Optimus: It's not an order, Magnus. I'm asking you for your help.
Magnus: Well, if you put it that way...
- —Optimus can play Magnus like a fiddle...
Notes
Differences with Car Robots
===Animation and/or Technical glitches.
- Omega Prime's voice in this episode sounds far more like Megatron's than normal. This is not unprecedented.
Continuity errors
- The Decepticons recognise the Spy Changers, despite not having met them before this episode.
Trivia
- X-Brawn states Side Burn's been chasing Kelly for two hours; Kelly herself notes she can't even go shopping without being followed, all while yelling at him to leave her alone. Brrr.
- Entering the ruins begins to open up old memories in Scourge. This idea is expanded on future episodes.
- The stone Transformer heads around the lake resemble Optimus' head. Evidence of a previous, similar Prime or just a cheap option for the animators? YOU decide!
- Build Team remember how they were fooled by those hallucinations that one time. Then later in the episode, they're fooled in the exact same way, again. They are, evidently, not especially smart (Heavy Load excepted).
- T-AI selects the Spychangers to monitor the activities of the Decepticons, as their "stealth capabilities make them the perfect choice for undercover work". Unfortunately, the Spychangers' idea of stealthy undercover work seems to involve charging out in front of the Decepticons at the first possible opportunity, whereupon all six of them are dispatched offscreen by Rollbar and Armorhide. You're really earning your keep there, guys.
- Just where did Optimus show up from at the end, anyway?
