Beast Wars timeline (IDW)

The IDW Beast Wars continuity incorperates a variation of events of Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo into its history creating a fairly unique timeline for the Beast Era. It appears to go something like this...

Great War (Pre-Beast era)

• Unicron explodes, releasing Angolmois energy into the galaxy.

• Maximals and Predacons begin to appear/be created and fight alongside Autobots and Decepticons. (No details of this are known, but it had to happen somehow.)

Great War (Beast era)

(As opposed to the 3H BotCon comics, which seemed to suggest that the Pax Cybertronia and the Great Upgrade to Maximals and Predacons were roughly simultaneous, IDW continuity makes it quite clear that the Great War continued for a good long time after the emergence of the new factions.)

• Maximals and Predacons become the more prominent factions, eclipsing Autobots and Decepticons.

• In an era of general downsizing, the Predacons buck the trend and create the powerful, destructive gestalt Tripredacus.

• Former Autobots Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt have become the Maximal Elders and, despite the vogue for downsizing and power conservation, they add the ability to combine into a massive gestalt Magnaboss in order to counter Tripredacus. Magnaboss goes on to become a legendary Maximal warrior.

• BB is held prisoner in a Maximal prison and subjected to "re-education" that traumatizes him. He escapes with the help of Starscream.

• As the War seems, after long eons, to actually be winding down, a new Galvatron seeks to utilize this uncertainty about the future to seize power for himself. He discovers Angolmois energy and sees it as a path to power. He gathers a crew loyal to him including Megastorm, Starscream, and BB and takes them to the planet Gaea to find the Anglomois. He is opposed by Lio Convoy and his crew of Maximals. (Events roughly parallel to those of the Beast Wars II anime occur at this point, though a few specifics may vary.)

• When the battle on Gaea becomes fierce, the robot Moon deserts his Celestial masters and joins the Maximals.

• Galvatron is undone and destroyed by his choice to embrace Angolmois energy.

Pax Cybertronia era

• Peace is declared. The Pax Cybertronia is signed. Magnaboss disappears and is not seen again.

• Magmatron seeks to pick up where Galvatron failed, seize the Angolmois, and end the newly founded peace. He is opposed by Big Convoy and his crew and eventually defeated. (Events roughly parallel to those of the Beast Wars Neo anime occur at this point, though a few specifics may vary.)

• Despite his history, Magmatron is respected enough to be offered a position on the Bi-Partate Committee for State Affairs.
