When the ferry was attacked by a shark submarine, Captain Shaw was warned by Chief Burns and able to steer the ship to avoid the shark's first pass. As it attacked again, Shaw ordered the passengers into the lifeboat, though Burns had to talk Shaw out of going down with his ship. Deep Trouble

Notes

Shaw shares the same last name with actor Robert Shaw, who played Quint in the film Jaws. Given the multiple homages to the film included in "Deep Trouble," this probably isn't a coincidence.
