In the present, in the Yukon, Megatron and Scorponok briefly chat before Scorponok takes the first swing, missing Megatron entirely. So using his Scorpion mode's blaster he apparently obliterates Megatron. But when Scorponok taunts the disabled Ironhide, Megatron strikes with his own vehicle mode.
As Megatron attacks Scorponok from both sides with the use of the tank-drone, Ironhide scrambles to find a solution to the conflict. When Scorponok manages to bury Megatron beneath an Avalanch, Megatron teleports free and impales Scorponok through the back.
Before leaving Megatron briefly introduces himself to Ironhide, who has errected an energon nega-field with an infradimension buffer.
On Cybertron, in the Amalgamation, Jetfire speaks to the Council of Elders, recapping that Megatron is back, and Optimus Prime has gone missing again. Councillor Avalon mentions Optimus Prime to Alpha-Q, who despite his sensors is unable to confirm that within Unicron - Optimus Prime is alive.
Items of note
- This was the final issue of the Energon comic series. Events taking place after the issue were revealed in issue solicitations and by the writers at conventions.
- The story in the Dreamwave Summer Special takes place some time after this issue.
- The Hasbro Transformers Collectors Club comic makes reference to events that would have happened in the upcoming issues. By extension, the Cybertron cartoon would have also taken place after the comic. This means there's a handful of bumps and errors in continuity, but it's not the first time these have occured.
