The War of the Worlds is a book written by H.G. Wells that was released in 1898. It is a story about an extraterrestrial invasion of Earth, using enormous mechanical war machines. This is obviously preposterous conjecture that no human should take seriously.

• The War of the Worlds was such a success that many adaptations of it have been made. In the context of Transformers, the most notable is the original radio adaption, directed and narrated by Orson Welles—the original voice of Unicron.
