Monstercons are a Decepticon sub-group from the IDW continuity portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Monstercons are among the Decepticon troops stationed on the planet Clemency in the Kol system.

After the end of the Great War, Krok's team of "expropriation specialists" were scavenging energon and spare parts from the Decepticon corpses on Clemency. Misfire's insistence on sampling the harvested energon backfired when he took some from a Monstercon that had overdosed on circuit speeders, leaving him more than a little...wired. Rules of Disengagement The team later used the Monstercon's circuit speeders to jump-start a stasis locked Grimlock. Who's Afraid of the DJD?
