Notes

  • This story is a quick-and-dirty retelling of the Generation 1 Marvel Comics. As such, it would be easier to point out the similarities and differences instead of describing the events.
    • Pre-Ark launch Transformer history is roughly accurate to American issue #1. It ignores later Primus-related retcons and instead sticks with the idea that Transformers originated through mechanical evolution.
    • Similar to the cartoon, Optimus Prime took the Ark out to search for energy instead of clearing asteroids.
    • The Ark accidentally crashed on Earth instead of being an intentional act by Optimus Prime.
    • Accurately, the Decepticons' first act upon waking up was to convert a human nuclear power plant into a fortress.
      • In this version, however, the Decepticons successfully obtained Energon cubes from the plant's uranium core instead of completely wasting its energy potential.
    • Here, the Decepticons tried and failed to steal a radio transmitter from NASA to contact Cybertron. In the Marvel stories, they successfully contacted Cybertron through a transmitter of their own design.
    • The rest of the events in the Marvel comics are ignored, including changes in leadership of the Autobots and Decepticons. Instead, were are told the two forces remained in a stalemate leading into the events of this annual.
