Talk:Triple Combination: Transformers Go! (toyline)

Cartoon title translation?
The title of the cartoon is 参乗合体トランスフォーマーGo!. At first glance, it looks like Combination Cubed: Transformers Go! (Three-Power-Combination), but the 参 is confusing me. It's not the typical kanji used for "three". Is there some cultural thing behind 参 I'm not aware of? (I see it's used for the "Three Stars" constellation, but I don't know its significance in Japanese culture.) Mimi 19:51, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
- 参 is another way of writing the kanji for "three", and was used waaaay back when to prevent forgery issues. (For example, "一" for "one" can be easily changed to "十" for "ten" with just that extra stroke.) It's still used these days primarily for legal documentation, like bank numbers, although some artists in Japan use it for artistic purposes (I know one uses that format to label each comic volume). --Lonegamer78 20:58, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
