Hot Spot is an Autobot Protectobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Hot Spot leads by example. Whether it's a battle or a firefight, he's right in the thick of things -- and that's he's happiest. His troops find his endless energy inspiring... and a bit exhausting.

Hot Spot is the commander of the Autobot subgroup Protectobots and forms the head and body of the combiner named Defensor. Hot Spot transforms from robot to blue fire engine.

After being sent to Earth by Optimus Prime to counter a rebuilt Megatron, nearly all of his team were destroyed. Weary and on the brink of shut-down, Hot Spot self-destructed to keep Cybertronian technology out of the hands of Cobra.
