Would Optimus Primal count? Technically, he didn't USE the Matrix for anything, but it did change his body. That kind of implies that yeah, he could light some dark hours with it.

No, Optimus Prime's spark changed his body. He did not use the Matrix. Prime's spark holder just looks similar to the Matrix. --ItsWalky 18:28, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Ahh, see I interpretted it as meaning that Prime's spark was inside the Matrix. So he had to take both.
