I gotta say, if Furman intended the fourth section to be in Rhythms of Darkness continuity, he sure didn't do a great job of it. We see how Kup and Rodimus die in RoD, and it's not compatible with what we see here. Kup is standing right next to Blurr as the two get incinerated by Scourge and Cyclonus, for example, and here Blurr is no where to be seen. Likewise, Rodimus is not torn apart by Galvatron's bare hands as we see in RoD. There's also no indication that any of these RoD flashbacks took place anywhere but Earth.

The idea that the fourth section takes place in an alternate 2005 Planet of Junk battle is a much stronger one supported by the actual script and art, regardless of what Furman said. The art is colored like the animated movie, as is mentioned, and what occurs is contrary to the few things we know about RoD's continuity. Heck, it can be both. I mean, it's quite clearly supposed to be an alternate version of the shuttle crash, but it can be the version of the shuttle crash that went down in the RoD timeline. I guess it just retcons the original story a bit to pluck the TFTM strings. I thought when I was reading it that it was maybe supposed to be the RoD timeline, but felt it didn't quite fit. - Chris McFeely 16:45, 18 September 2013 (EDT)

Agreed. I've only read RoD once (and it was hastily read in the bookstore flipping through a TPB) but this didn't seem to quite fit for me either. But the mighty Furman say's it's so, so.... --Altercron 16:52, 18 September 2013 (EDT)

Is that even clearly Kup on the page getting incinerated by Cyclonus and Scourge (yes, it could be Kup, but it's far from a clear picture of whoever's next to Blurr)? Does Hot Rod not seeing Blurr remains next to the ship automatically make Kup's death a continuity error in the RoD timeline? Couldn't Galvatron of continued to rip Rodimus' body apart after he got killed in LTZ? It's clearly established in #67 that Galvatron continued to abused Rodimus' body after his death.

Seems like a lot of the perceived errors with this are just that, perceived errors.
