Move over, Mario...

Some might call Autobot armorer and weapons master Crosshairs overcautious, while others might call him a huge pain in the skidplate, but Crosshairs knows that he controls a vast armory that could be incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands. Thus, he sees it as his duty to protect it with his impenetrable filing system and his incessant demands for request forms - in triplicate.

Should the need to use this powerful arsenal ever arise, Crosshairs is a stickler when it comes to how all this weaponry should be used. He demands that every single unit of ammunition be monitored, dislikes it whenever a shot, blast, or discharge goes to waste, and is quite slow when it comes to combat. As a result of this, however, he's an extremely skilled and precise marksman, and is capable of fighting the fight longer due to his very conservative ammo consumption.

He is sometimes partnered with Sergeant Cahnay.

You call THAT a knife? THIS is a knife!

Many years ago, Crosshairs was a member of Optimus's Science Division during the reign of Protector Megatron. This peaceful existence ended when a mysterious relic was discovered outside the temple of Simfur, and Megatron changed the military's mission of defending Cybertron to open conquest. He listened to Optimus's pleas for them to ignore Megatron's demand and stay out of the fighting. Defiance issue 2

When the civil war broke out, Crosshairs, like many scientists, joined Optimus Prime's new faction, the Autobots. He watched from a distance as the Decepticons launched the Nemesis, and participated in a mission to bring Sentinel Prime's "torch" invention to the Simfur Temple. Foundation #3 At one point during the war, he fought against Thundercracker. He was present when Optimus Prime revealed his plan to capture the AllSpark, and due to the lack of space on the Ark, some Autobots would have to stay behind. Crosshairs was among those who volunteered to stay. Defiance issue 4

Let's do this thang.

Crosshairs was getting ready for a raid on the temple at Simfur when Clocker returned with an unexpected guest: Arcee. Crosshairs explained the Autobots' situation to her, then invited her along for the attack. The Reign of Starscream #4

He entered the frame ax-first. That's pretty awesome.

When Dreadwing's forces betrayed Starscream at Simfur, Crosshairs, Clocker, Armorhide and Arcee created havoc by destroying the replica AllSpark cube and fighting the rebel Decepticon forces. He decapitated Ramjet when the Decepticon had pinned down Armorhide and was about to deliver the killing stroke. He managed to escape with the other Autobots when Dreadwing's starship came crashing down to Trypticon, destroying the once-magnificent Decepticon city. The Reign of Starscream #5

Cross his hairs and hope to die (quickly).
  • Crosshairs (Scout, 2008)
    • Accessories: Crane boom/rifle, spare tire halves, Autobot-type energon star
Crosshairs is part of the "AllSpark Power" series of Target-exclusive Scout Class toys, the fourth wave of Target-exclusive Scouts. He is a redeco of the Energon series Strongarm toy, transforming into a Cybertronic jeep. He has a clear-plastic "energon" crane-boom/rifle and spare tire which can combine to form a large axe. His molded Autobot faction symbol is unpainted, while he has a Sector Seven symbol just below.
This mold was also used to make the BotCon 2005-exclusive Fallback, and fellow live-action movie-verse exclusive Strongarm. The axe mold was separated and used for multiple Takara promotional energon weapons, as well as being released in reddish-orange with the Japanese "Wild" redeco of Energon Ironhide.

Dark of the Moon

  • Sergeant Cahnay / Crosshairs (Human Alliance Basic, 2011)
    • Japanese ID number:
    • Accessories: Rifle, two c joint double-barreled blasters
Part of the fourth wave of Dark of the Moon Human Alliance Triple Changer figures, Crosshairs is a green redeco of Thunderhead and has two different alternate modes. In spider-tank mode, he has a large turret up top with a seat for any Human Alliance figure to sit at behind the main gun. In "mech" mode, he becomes a bipedal suit of armor for the human figure to fit into. His turret cannon can be detached and used as a hand-held rifle, and he has two small double-barreled blasters that can be mounted on his numerous c joint weapon-mounting bars, including two on the rifle itself. He comes with Sergeant Cahnay, a redeco of Sergeant Chaos.
Similarly to Thunderhead, Crosshairs's instructions give a different configuration for his robot mode feet than is depicted in his stock photography. His toes fold down farther to form a trigram foot, complete with a flat section on his tip toes for him to stand on. There is also more of a fixed seat for the human figure in mech mode, as opposed to him just dangling from the cockpit as shown in the stock photo.

Notes

  • Crosshairs is the Autobots' armorer, who is said to go about his job very meticulously and doesn't like wasting ammo, just like his Generation 1 namesake. Except, y'know, with more giant axes and Triple Changing.
