Insecticon (Movie)
| The name or term "Insecticon" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Insecticon (disambiguation). |
- Insecticons are Decepticons from the live-action movie continuity family.
The Insecticons are an example of reengineered Cybertronian wildlife, robotic insects altered for use in warfare, capable of implanting cerebro-strips into the heads of victims; this allows the Insecticon's master to mentally manipulate and control the victims remotely. Whether the Insecticons have been given sentience of any sort when reengineered, retain a merely animalistic level of intelligence, or fall somewhere in between, is unknown.
Robot insects that brainwash people; where'd they get a weird idea like that from, eh?

Titan Magazines Transformers comics
While Megatron was in charge, Starscream quietly had his Insecticons implant cerebro-strips in multiple humans, all for the day when he would gain command. Shockingly, that day actually arrived, and Starscream now has an army of potential human servants, including the 44th President of the United States. He stated this was all "courtesy of my Insecticons!", but as the room was empty at the time, it is unknown to whom he was talking.

Revenge of the Fallen movie

While Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes were hiding from the Decepticons in Egypt, a tiny creepy-crawly infiltrator flew in through a hole in the wall. It was discovered by Sam, who pulled it apart with his fingers, but not before it transmitted the humans' position to the Decepticons. Revenge of the Fallen
Unite for the Universe
Insecticon was among the Decepticons that Megatron called upon, along with Hailstorm, Terradive and Skywarp, to ambush the Autobots when they interfered with his fight with a crazy, Unite-powered Starscream. The mentally-unsound Starscream then attacked Skywarp, leading to Insecticon using his sting to zap him on the head for his troubles. In this dazed state, Ratchet then took the opportunity to zap Starscream with his gun, removing his Unite ability. Realizing he could no longer discover the secrets of Project Unite from tearing Starscream into pieces, Megatron stopped wrestling with Optimus Prime long enough to abandon Starscream and retreat. Insecticon and the three other Decepticons followed suit. The Strongest Weapon
Toy bios
In robot mode, Insecticon is tough and fearsome in battle. In his insect alternate mode, he is quite fast.[1]
Ravage didn't want to take on Bumblebee alone again, so he asked Insecticon for help. Since Bumblebee annoyed Insecticon, it was his pleasure to help. The two encircled Bumblebee, stalking through the gloom while Bumblebee prepared for battle.[2]

Transformers (2010)

- Insecticon (Scout, 2010)
- Japanese ID number: AA-04
- Insecticon is an insectoid robot who turns into a robotic insect. Surprise! He has a relatively basic transformation compared to other Scouts, but because all 6 of his arms and legs have at least 3 points of articulation, he ends up with 23 points of articulation. You heard right.
- The instructions neglect to mention that the inside of his abdomen features a hinged piece that can be swung down to help fill it up in insect mode. They also incorrectly tell one to orient the robot head face-down against the thorax for insect mode, when it should instead face towards the back, giving more space for the bases of the legs to join together and, undocumented in the instructions, clip onto tabs on the underside of the thorax, allowing for a more cohesive insect mode.
- The TakaraTomy Autobot Alliance release of Insecticon features considerable changes to his plastic colours: Whereas Hasbro's release featured an olive-coloured base colour with light grey joints and translucent blue wings, TakaraTomy's features a dark brown base with lavender joints and clear white wings.
Notes
- According to concept art by Massive Black, the Insecticons were to have combined into a single monstrous, six-legged robot known as the Hive.[3]
- In the same post, concept art showed the microcons were also described as being insects.
