Nightjar's bug-eyes has earned him the ire of his friends during class photos.
Nightjar is a second generation Cybertronian Empire Decepticon from the Marvel portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Nightjar is a member of the Primum Fugae, Jhiaxus' personal army of bodyguards.

He's easily the most distinctive of the five, having brown-coloured wings instead of being fully silver, a massive claw for a right hand, and wacky buggy eyes instead of the visor all his comrades wear.

Fiction

Regeneration One

Regeneration One continues from the Marvel US series, and does not include the UK stories or any subsequently published stories.

Nightjar, alongside the other members of the Primum Fugae accompanied their master Jhiaxus to Cybertron when they teleported to the world by way of space bridge. They later transformed and flew over the surface of the planet with orders not to attack the dominant strain of Cybertronians native to the world, but that does not apply to the Demons. Taking it upon themselves to rid the universe of these abominations, Nightjar and his comrades slaughtered the demons. While in the process of beheading a Demon with his claw arm, Grimlock cut Nightjar's arm with his sword. The Dinobots, having arrived to defend the Demons, challenged the Primum Fugae.

Nightjar regenerated his severed arm quickly, and alongside Hawk and Wryneck easily held off the Dinobots while Rook and Firecrest continue the purge. Nightjar clamped down on Swoop's arm, rendering it nonfunctional for the remainder of the battle. When Jhiaxus leaves, the Primum Fugae transformed and departed alongside their master. Nightjar may be one of the identical Cybertronian jets that later pursued the Autobots who assaulted the Hub, and may or may not have survived the conflict. He's certainly not one of the many robot-mode generics we see -- we'd recognize that ugly mug of his anywhere. The War to End All Wars, Part 3The War to End All Wars, Part 4
