The name or term "Skyhammer" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Skyhammer (disambiguation).
Skyhammer is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
"Uh, guys? You're crowding me a bit here..."

Skyhammer is the very model of the ideal Autobot warrior. He's a courageous defender of the weak, a tenacious and clever warrior, and an unflappable optimist. It's too bad he's also an inconsiderate, overbearing jerk. He can't offer advice to anyone without delivering a long lecture in the most condescending tone possible—using himself, of course, as an example to strive towards. He's so grating and unpleasant that his fellow Autobots are reluctant to follow his orders—even when he's right, which he usually is.

Classics

That's right, I'm referred to as "Skyhammer's pilot" in this story. Thanks a lot!
Classics continues from the Marvel US series, and does not include the UK stories or any subsequently published stories.

In 2012, Skyhammer was stationed with several other Pretenders in Japan within... himself under the leadership of Metalhawk. He was present one day when Rad reported from the Ironworks base in Oregon about a foiled attack by Gigatron and his Decepticons. Soon thereafter, due to the actions of an evil Ultra Magnus from another dimension, a rift of space time opened over Earth, causing catastrophes worldwide. Skyhammer assisted his peers in evacuating a city block by beaming up hundreds of humans inside himself. Invasion

Toys

Generation 1

These feet were so not built for walkin'.
  • Skyhammer (Ultra Pretender, 1989)
    • Accessories: Gun, missiles (2)
As an Ultra Pretender, Skyhammer's toy includes a transforming inner robot, a transforming humanoid inner shell, and a non-transforming "flying fortress" outer shell. The inner robot transforms into a Cybertronic car. Like most Pretender robots, it is fairly simplistic. The car's top-mounted gun becomes the robot's hand-held weapon. The humanoid inner shell transforms to a hoverjet/landspeeder. In human mode, the shell can enclose the inner robot; in vehicle form, the robot can sit in its open cockpit to act as a pilot. In human form, the shell has a flip-down visor. Both robot and inner shell fit inside the second shell, a large Cybertronic flying fortress. The inner robot can man the turret emplacement on the dorsal area of the flying fortress, while the large double cannons on the bow can pivot in a wide arc.
Catalogs showed Skyhammer as being colored blue-and-red instead of gold-and-red. This presumed change between prototype and actual toy has led to Skyhammer being known to suffer from Gold Plastic Syndrome.
Interestingly, Skyhammer is lying on his back when he is stored in his humanoid shell, and the shell is also lying on its back when it is stored inside the flying fortress shell.
