Ransack (G2)

- Ransack is a Decepticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Ransack is often tasked for reconnaissance missions over Autobot encampments, and is well known for his attack plans and calm demeanor. But once the fighting starts, Ransack fights back; disrupting Autobots from above with his magnetic field generator for stealth attacks. When shot down behind enemy lines, he transforms and battles to the death with his launchable rocket-powered propeller.
(Even though rockets powering a propeller seems like overkill.)

Generation 2 (US)
Ransack's body was among those designed and built by Bludgeon's forces aboard the Warworld during his period of exile. The plan was to draw Prime into a trap, steal the Creation Matrix, and use it to bring them to life. Old Evils The plan worked, although with Megatron at its head rather than Bludgeon. The Gathering Darkness Now bolstered by fresh new troops, Megatron sicced his new forces on the planet Tykos in order to capture the valuable rheanimum gas developed there. Ransack proved himself a capable soldier, though even he was surprised by the raw power of the rebuilt Darkwing. New Dawn
When the Autobots and Decepticons teamed up to fight Jhiaxus's forces, Ransack watched the Autobots leave to save the planet Ethos while Megatron told Starscream to shut his trap. When the Autobots found themselves outmaneuvered and outnumbered, Ransack was part of the party of Decepticons sent to save their cans, turning the tide of battle. Escalation!
After the Cybertronians retreated, he helped Springer set up the "sky sniper" mines in order to stop the approaching Swarm. They were pretty much useless. At least he tried. A Rage in Heaven!
Generation 2 (UK)
Under the command of Bludgeon, Blitz and the Skyscorchers helped smash up London in order to lure out Optimus Prime. War Without End
IDW Generation 1 continuity
During the war, Ransack served under the command of Turmoil, and was present when their second-in-command, Deadlock, attempted an ill-fated coup. Drift #1 At another time, he was with Heavy Barrel as they siphoned pseudo-energon from a small mechanoid world. They laughed at the starving natives. Forever Is a Long Time Coming
After getting captured at some point, Ransack was held as a prisoner in the Garrus-9 penitentiary complex overseen by Fortress Maximus, stripped down to his spark and held in a tiny box for an as-of-yet unknown crime or offense. Spotlight: Arcee
Ransack was later freed and joined the Decepticons after the war on Cybertron. He and Heavy Barrel fell in with Gutcruncher's engex bootlegging operation. During a theft of an engex distiller, Ransack was killed along with Stratotronic and Heavy Barrel Fight or Flee by Sandstorm for their war crimes. Forever Is a Long Time Coming
Wings Universe
Created in a Cyberfactory on Earth, Ransack was part of the "second generation" of Transformers, who were neither Autobots nor Decepticons. History repeated itself, however, and the new generation went to war, with Ransack joining Clench's Decepticon Syndicate. During a battle for the Large Hadron Collider, he and Powerdive battled Leadfoot and Manta Ray on the facility's roof, where all four were exposed to forestonite gas and possibly developed rotor-related powers. - Ransack transforms into a purple Chance Vought F4U Corsair with green pontoons/bombs underneath. As a Rotor Force toy, Ransack has a propeller that can be launched in vehicle and robot mode, the prop/engine portion of his plane mode becoming a hand-held weapon for robot mode.
- He came with two rotor discs, in case you lost one. (Considering how well they fly, good idea.) Early releases of Ransack and his partner Powerdive came with black plastic rotor discs, but this was changed to red after a short while. The black-rotor version is much less common.
Notes
- The UK/European packaging art for "Blitz" (seen above) omits the toy's flip-out toes. Ransack's North American artwork, being entirely different, retains them.
- Transformers: Generation 2 #7 misspells his name as "Ransak".
- "Blitz's" packaging art accompanies a wordsearch in The Official Transformers: Generation 2 Annual, but he doesn't show up in any of the book's stories.
