Hello there.

In 2005, Unicron is defeated by Rodimus Prime. This tumultuous event tears the overspace and sends the god's Dark Essence back in time to prehistoric Earth, where it ensconces itself in an underground cavern.

On a future Cybertron, Megatron rules and the Maximals are subjugated rebels. One Predacon soldier, the Hunter, finds his ship attacked by the resistance, and crash lands on the desolate Earth, where he finds and absorbs the Dark Essence, becoming the all-poweful Shokaract. Returning to Cybertron, his new-found power lets him subjugate the planet in barely a century, forcing the Maximals and Predacons into an uneasy alliance against him. Recruiting Heralds like Antagony and Cataclysm, who do his bidding (and compete for his approval), Shokaract quickly becomes Emperor of half the known galaxy as planet after planet falls before his armies.

On the alien moon Protos, Shokaract's rise is keenly observed by the Covenant, twelve Transformers created at the dawn of time as both a trial-run for Cybertron and to watch for the coming of Point Omega, a prophesied battle which will put Primus's Grand Plan at stake. During the era of Maximal/Predacon peace, the Twelve recieved a cryptic warning from the time-walking god called the Chronarchitect, and an instruction to "return to the beginning", and have ever since been on red alert. Concerned by Shokaract, whose name is connected to the legends of Point Omega, the Covenant have investigated across space and time, but one of their number has gone missing.

On Cybertron, Shokaract senses danger to the Dark Essence in the past. Unbeknownst to him, the time-displaced Megatron's meddling in history has weakened the tear in overspace, which now threatens to pull the Essence back to 2005. To protect the source of his power, the Emperor sends Antagony back in time, with instructions to guard the Dark Essence and retrieve an artifact he believes threatens it.

Arriving on Earth in the second year of the Beast Wars, Antagony finds that the artifact has already been taken (by Apelinq, another time-traveling interloper), and, drained from her journey, she is taken prisoner by the Predacons after a short battle. Megatron attempts to force secrets of the future from her with a mind-drill, but the Herald's mind "self destructs", leaving her in a vegetative state.

Back on future Cybertron, the Cub, a would-be Herald of Shokaract, lies dying, having been ritually executed by his fission-brother Cataclysm for failing to assassinate the ancient resistance warrior called the Veteran. Before his spark fades away, however, he is found by the Veteran and resistance leader Sandstorm, who enact a bold plan: the Veteran fuses his spark with the Cub's, creating an amalgamwarrior named Windrazor. Although conflicted due to his dual nature, Windrazor reveals that Cataclysm is being sent into the past to suceed where Antagony failed. The dual-sparked warrior sets off to stop the Herald, whilst Sandstorm journies into J'nwan, a bizarre region unbound by physical law, where the Legends of past battles are said to dwell. After a strange and arduous trek, the resistance leader is able to beg the Legends for help, but they claim their day is past and send him on his way.

Windrazor confronts Cataclysm just as he enters the Transwarp portal, and the pair battle in the quantum tunnel. The tunnel's integrity is breached, and Cataclysm pulled into overspace just before Windrazor safely arrives on Earth. After watching a dragon-form Megatron rise from a volcano, he follows a tracking device dropped Cataclysm to the Dark Essence's cave. The Maximals and Predacons both detect the temporal incursion and track their visitor, leading to a pitched battle outside the cave. Megatron slips away into the cave, and confronts Windrazor for the Dark Essence, but when the Cub's nature takes the fore in a moment of rage, Unicron takes possesion of the fused warrior. Megatron tossed aside, Unicron/Windrazor makes his way outside and, after psionically imobilising the Predacons, sets upon the Maximals. He is soon stopped when the Cub and the Veteran work together to expell the Dark Essence back to its pit, but the respite is short – because Shokaract himself arrives from the future, quickly defeats Windrazor and the Maximals, and starts devouring Optimus Primal's spark!

However, as Megatron and Apelinq watch on, another Transwarp portal opens, and the Covenant arrive, having determined that this is indeed Point Omega. They confront Shokaract, who releases Primal's spark, but the overlord's dark cloak protects him from all harm, and he atomizes several of the Twelve. Unwilling to remain a passive observer, Apelinq joins the battle, whilst Megatron braves the growing timestorm to observe the rift that threatens the Dark Essence. He attacks it, and Shokaract resurrects Antagony and Cataclysm to hold the line whilst he confronts the Predacon dragon. The emperor quickly gains the upper hand, and psionically anchors the Dark Essence in the past.

Sandstorm arrives from the future, and meets with Windrazor and a recovering Optimus Primal, just as the timestorm deposits an army of Beast Warriors from alternate realities on the battlefield. They all attack in unison, but Shokaract's Matrix of Conquest tears through them. All seems lost when Sandstorm then reveals himself as an undercover Herald of Shokaract, but the Covenant realize the truth: Sandstorm is the missing Covenant member, Scorpius, and he has gotten close enough to Shokaract to strip away his dark cloak!

Vulnerable for the first time, Shokaract transforms to robot mode, and obliterates Scorpius. Primal, Apelinq and Windrazor attack, and are suddenly joined by Autobots and Decepticons of old – the Legends of J'nwan. Whilst the dark overlord is occupied, the Covenant realize the nature of the Chronarchitect's warning, and return to their beginning as part of Primus's lifeforce. In this energy form, they enter the Matrix of Conquest, where they defeat a manifestation of Unicron and sever the link holding the Dark Essence. Unicron's essence is sucked away into the overspace, and in an almighty blast, Shokaract's timeline ceases to be.

On a future Cybertron, Megatron rules and the Maximals are subjugated rebels. One Predacon soldier, the Hunter, finds his ship attacked by the resistance, and crash lands on the desolate Earth, where he finds ... nothing.
