After the explosion of Nemesis, Lio Convoy was sent back in time to Dinosaur. There, he witnessed and survived an attack from Unicron.

Far in the future, in Lio Convoy's time, the crew of the Gung Ho discovered a wormhole to Dinosaur, which they travelled through to find the planet. They landed and found the long-lost Lio Convoy still there. Lio Convoy explained his situation and Unicron's attack. The Gung Ho crew then returned to their proper time and space. Illusion?
