Minimus Ambus
- Minimus Ambus is an Autobot from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Minimus Ambus, true to his name, is a tiny dude. This diminutive robot has always had big dreams, however, wishing to be the kind of venerated Autobot who holds the line against evil and serves as a soldier in the Great War. Despite his small stature, Minimus Ambus is a type of Point One Percenter, with a specially-empowered spark that allows his body to undergo physical augmentation.
He is the spark brother of Dominus Ambus, with whom he shares their House's distinctive facial insignia.
Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
Having devised the Magnus Armor as a way to keep the legend of the "immortal lawman" Ultra Magnus alive, Chief Justice Tyrest selected Minimus Ambus to be the latest Autobot to wear it. The Divided Self He would play the role right up to the present day The Gloaming, though not without some apparent regrets. Cybertronian Homesick Blues
After the end of the war, Ambus was critically injured by the rogue Decepticon Overlord aboard the Lost Light. Under Cold Blue Stars While in a coma he involuntarily activated the recall trigger built into the armor The Gloaming which automatically took him to one of the Lost Light's shuttles and then through a giant portal back to Tyrest on Luna 1. The Fecund Moon The Chief Justice healed Ambus's wounds but, disgusted by his recent behaviour, stripped him of both the armor and the title of Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord, replacing him with Star Saber. The Divided Self After Lockdown and his crew captured Rodimus and most of his landing party, Ambus took it upon himself to go undercover in their cell to prove that they were completely ignorant of the charge against them—that of harbouring a known criminal—but his ruse was quickly uncovered by Rung. House of Ambus Concerned by the additional charges of "crimes against creation", his superior's new-found religiosity and his habit of drilling holes in himself, Ambus left the Lost Lighters in their cell and went to confront Tyrest but was "pre-emptively executed" by a Legislator for trying to thwart the Chief Justice's plans. The Divided Self

Fortunately, the Magnus Armor was not the only load that Ambus was capable of carrying and the head that was crushed by the Legislator belonged to another layer of augmentation around his irreducible core. When he came around he punched his way clear of its remains and, grabbing one of the Legislators' guns, shot Tyrest in the back. Along with Perceptor, he devised a way to use Rodimus's half of the Matrix to reverse the effects of Tyrest's universal killswitch, though at great risk to Rodimus's own life. Before it was put into operation Rodimus and Ambus took the opportunity to clear the air between them, with Minimus revealing that he didn't consider Rodimus a fit captain and Rodimus revealing that he had done far worse, but promising to make amends. Though their plan was successful and Rodimus survived, they were quickly overrun with Legislators and Ambus had to take up his gun once again to fight them off before Tailgate managed to shut them all down. This Calamitous Life
In the aftermath of the battle Ambus retrieved his outer shell and reintegrated with it. Later in the Lost Light's medbay, Ratchet helped him put the Magnus Armor back on, revealing that he had known about it all along, right back to the original Ultra Magnus, but since he had known Minimus the longest he considered him to be the true Ultra Magnus. The Sound of Breaking Glass
"The Custom-Made Now"

When Brainstorm altered the timeline, he created a Cybertron where the Functionist Council had slowly but surely conquered the planet. In this timeline, Minimus never had to become Magnus and served as a soldier in the Primal Vanguard. After two million years offworld, keeping in touch with his brother Dominus by video, he finally returned home after a peace deal. He was sickened to see the oppression and casual genocide of Cybertron, and to see his brother had been made an empurata victim for speaking out, but was unsure about whether to become a full-on rebel. Minimus was not given the chance to decide as a few hours later, the Council began the "mass recall" of all memory sticks.
He drove through streets littered with Cybertronian corpses to warn Rewind and found Dominus's vocabulary had been deleted by the Functionists. Via Dominus's face, the Council taunted him that they'd replaced his optics with cameras on his flight home and he'd been unwittingly spying on his brother. The Custom-Made Now
Notes
- In "The Custom-Made Now", Minimus is shown capable of transforming into minesweeper while wearing his secondary augmentation layer. When completely stripped of all optional equipment however, his design appears far more human-shaped than most Transformers, calling into question whether or not he is capable of transforming on his own.
- Minimus was in the Vanguard in the new timeline but it's not said if he'd served in the original one.
