Spencer Proffer

After starting in the music industry in the 1960s, songwriter and producer Spencer Proffer became head of production for United Artists in 1974, during which time he worked with a number of artists (including Tina Turner and Paul Anka), ultimately producing 11 top 50 hits in a single 18-month stretch. In 1977, Proffer, dissatisfied with working at United Artists, opted to form his own label, Pasha Records. While at Pasha, he helped develop the careers of several artists, including Quiet Riot, Billy Thorpe, and Kick Axe.
