Toy Fair
From MediaWiki
First held in New York City in February 1903 by the Toy Industry Association, Toy Fair has gone from being a low-key showcase for American toy manufacturers to being one of the most significant events in the global toy market, with the American International Toy Fair eventually being joined by international events such as Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nürnberg in Germany.
Representatives from this very Wiki have been invited by Hasbro to the Collector-Fan Media Day events at Toy Fair 2010, Toy Fair 2011, Toy Fair 2012, Toy Fair 2013, and Toy Fair 2014.
Notable Toy Fairs
American International Toy Fair
- Toy Fair 1986: In an effort to deceive rival Mattel, Hasbro (in)famously produced a "decoy" pre-Toy Fair catalog that did not include any images of the then-upcoming Jem line so as to make Mattel think that Hasbro had abandoned plans to release it. Many of the Transformers figures are shown in very early prototype stages, with a few being obvious mock-ups.
UK Toy Fair
- UK Toy Fair saw the appearance of the "Ultra Force" version of Aero-Bot, the only Go-Bots figure to not see mass release.
