Messatine is a planet from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Messatine is a planet where the Transformers run a nucleon mining industry. It appears to have a very cold atmosphere, as it is covered in snow.

Fiction

IDW Generation 1 continuity

Pre-war, the mining installation was run by Rolt. Births, Deaths, and Interventions Megatron was exiled on Messatine by the Senate, who were afraid of his growing influence. Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc While there, he continued to write political tracts and somehow his friend Terminus was able to smuggle them back to Cybertron. Poor Terminus lost his legs in an accident and Messatine couldn't be bothered to patch up a wounded manual worker.

Eventually, closures and automation meant Messatine's mines were the closest to Cybertron after Croteus 12. By this point, the Senate decided to have Megatron's brain altered (shadowplay). Luckily for him, this was interrupted by Rung and minutes later the facility had to be evacuated due to a nucleon disaster caused by Brainstorm time traveling into the mines. Births, Deaths, and Interventions The temporal energies unleashed by his arrival reacted with the nearby nucleon, causing it to change over the course of millions of years into a new, super-powerful substance. After the war broke out, the planet became part of the Decepticon Justice Division's territory: discovering the mutated nucleon, they dubbed it "Nuke" and began using it as a fuel to supercharge themselves. The Permanent Revolution In spite of their presence, the Autobots were allowed to continue mining operations and run the medical facility Delphi thanks to a deal between Pharma and D.J.D. leader Tarn. How Ratchet Got His Hands Back It was near the Serp Mines on Messatine where Agent 113 succeeded in getting a message back to the Autobots.
