Disambig/merge

I gotta say, lumping Beast Wars Uprising Override in with IDW's Velocitronian Override is... one of the more clunky decisions we've made. I would highly suggest we split them out.--RosicrucianTalk 14:05, 10 June 2015 (EDT)

Why? They're both Primax characters based on Cybertron Override. One's an asshole, but so are all of the Builders, and we're not splitting them out. Saix (talk) 14:11, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
There's not enough commonality between them to build a coherent bio in the lead paragraph. The other Builders are almost all established G1 characters and thus we go with the most common portrayal for their bio paragraphs. In this case we have two wildly different, indeed inherently contradictory descriptions and nothing in between. There's nothing to average out here, and I feel that attempts to do so would only confuse readers. I know it's wiki policy to put them together, but we make exceptions to wiki policy when reader clarity would otherwise suffer.--RosicrucianTalk 14:36, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
I get your point, but the thing about BWU is that all the Builders don't have their "normal" personalities, and are assholes. I'd argue that by the nature of the Uprising universe we should go with the IDW portrayal... once we actually know what that is. I know that seems kind of arbitrary, but... yeah. Riptide (talk) 15:06, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
Agreed. BWU Override is dead and ultimately a footnote. The IDW version is what's going to be the primary version going forward and will be what the intro will be based on. Saix (talk) 15:30, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
Then I take issue with disambiguating this character as a Beast Wars character if that's the approach we'll be taking. Granted, I don't think disambiguating it "Override (IDW)" works either with them merged. I know our method is franchise of origin, but that implies that Uprising is the franchise of origin for the character, and that the IDW version draws from that. It still feels like a bad fit and following policy for policy's sake.--RosicrucianTalk 15:54, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
