Apex is an Autobot Headmaster from the Beast Wars: Uprising portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Now you too can have an Optimus Prime with retractable mouthplace!

Apex is a member of the Optimus ruling triumvirate alongside Hi-Q and Diac.

Apex was a member of the Optimus triumvirate on the colony world of Rebirth, ruling the planet from the capital of Astrotopia. Their oligarchy had long ago calcified into a vast and corrupt hegemony that swiftly silenced any dissent. The most recent group to try denouncing the Optimus were swiftly branded the Malignus and driven underground before they could do any real damage. When Galvatron and his Decepticons arrived on Rebirth looking to bolster their ranks, the Malignus were all too happy to join the cause and take out the planet's leadership.

The loyalist Cyberdroids were unable to repulse the unstoppable quartet of Galvatron and his three Cyberdroid partners; Apex and the other two members of the Optimus found themselves imprisoned. Then the Autobots arrived; the Cyberdroids who hadn't joined the Decepticons quickly found Autobot partners and the war intensified. The surviving Optimus members binary-bonded themselves to Optimus Prime, Derailment and together they became "Triple-Threat Prime". Powerful as they were, the Autobot incursion failed to pry the planet out of Decepticon hands; the Autobots retreated, taking their Cyberdroid allies with them. A Brush With Infamy–Prologue

Apex presumably died when Optimus sacrificed himself to protect Earth from the Swarm. Book of Logos

Centuries later, Overrun, facing death at the hands of Micromasters, told himself that he was going to see Apex and Hi-Q again. Trigger Warnings During the Vehicon Apocalypse, the reborn Galvatron recalled crushing Optimus Prime's Headmaster partner. He got pretty peeved when Krunix helpfully corrected him and told the Mad Tyrant he'd killed Diac, not Apex. Derailment

Titans Return

  • Autobot Apex & Powermaster Optimus Prime (Leader Class, 2016)
The Titans Return Apex toy doubles as a revamped version of Hi-Q and as the independent character Apex.
"Autobot Apex" is Powermaster Optimus Prime's Titan Master, transforming from a robot heavily based on Hi-Q into Optimus's head. His head mode homages the original Powermaster Optimus Prime cab robot's head, but with a mouth. Apex can interact with any other Titans Return figure, filling either a cockpit seat or pegging into a base mode surface as a humanoid, or by becoming the head of any Deluxe-or-larger figure.
This mold was also retooled into Legends Super Ginrai's Headmaster stage.
