Assistant Ball

The Assistant Ball is technology from the Beast Wars II portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Assistant Ball (アシスタントボール) is a drone shaped like a ball with two antennae and belongs to the Moon crew, being in particular associated with Moon. It has a very big mouth, which isn't used for speaking but houses some manner of unspace from which the Assistant Ball can produce just about anything Moon and Artemis need. All the same, Moon mostly uses the Assistant Ball as a chair. The Assistant Ball generally does not like this treatment.

The Festive Jointrons

The Assistant Ball was unhappy to be used as a chair once more The Black Lio Convoy and once more Who Is the Strongest Warrior!? and once more. Even though Moon sat on it, it found amusement in Moon and Artemis accusing each other of bed-wetting. Showdown in the Sea The good vibes endured as the Assistant Ball winked alongside Moon. Planet Gaia When the "Artemis & Moon II Report" came to an end, it cried as the group said their goodbyes to the audience. Revenge of the Space Pirates

Notes

[edit]
  • The Assistant Ball is not given a designation in the fiction. The name comes from the model sheets, which describe the Assistant Ball as being the one to provide Artemis and Moon with any items they need.<ref>Beast Wars II Artemis & Moon Model Sheets at TFRaw</ref>
  • The Assistant Ball is a character exclusive to the fourth wall-breaking "Artemis & Moon II Report" segments and the fourth wall-breaking clip show "Who Is the Strongest Warrior!?". This is a bit incongruous, because the purpose of the Assistant Ball is to provide stuff for Artemis and Moon and it does so in the "Artemis & Moon II Report", but within the show proper the two just have stuff without any hint as to where they got it from. A recurring example is Moon's keyboard, which in the "Artemis & Moon II Report" is provided by the Assistant Ball and elsewhere is a separate object that Moon sometimes pulls from out of frame.
  • In both "Danger! Scissor Boy" and "Knock Out Nemesis", Moon grabs the Assistant Ball's antennae as if they function as levers, but in both instances the scene is cut off before anything is shown happening.
