Black Convoy Mass Production Type Drone

Black Convoy Mass Production Drones are drones from the Legends portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Created by the Dimensional Patrol based on the body of Black Convoy, the mindless, mass-produced Black Convoy Mass Production Drones (ブラックコンボイ量産型ドローン Burakku Konboi ryōsan-gata dorōn) resemble their template but have featureless faces and the ability to transform into jets and bases in addition to trucks. Their single optics can fire beams with the power to revert a corrupted protoform to its original shape and personality.

Black Convoy drones were among the troops brought to the Legends World by Black Convoy and Skids in their hunt for the Combatrons. After two of them took out Dolrailer when he mistook one for Black Convoy and let his guard down, the drones were deployed to attack Autobot Axalon Trading Company where Dark Ai was hiding. The local Autobot Headmasters were able to take control of the drones by converting them into transtectors, and when Black Convoy did the same to combat them, Dark Ai interfaced with his drone to restore his evil personality. After sending the Dimensional Patrol packing, Black Convoy took the drones with him to his home universe. LG-EX Black Convoy Some were left behind and salvaged by the JSDF, who deployed them to defend Tokyo against Trypticon. Decepticon Civil War

One particular drone was modified by Wheeljack into a dedicated transtector for Clouder, who used it to defeat Kickback LG47 Kickback and battle Devil Z. LG-EX Grand Maximus

The Black Convoy toy was repurposed as Black Convoy Mass Production Type Drones by "LG-EX Black Convoy".

Debuting as a Tokyo Toy Show 2017 exclusive, Legends Black Convoy is a redeco of Titans Return Voyager Class Optimus Prime, transforming from robot to tanker truck to plane and back. The drone mode, as seen in the included mini-manga, is created by eschewing the included Headmaster and instead giving the toy a one-eyed head by flipping the jet mode's engine up over the shoulders. The manga also features a fourth base mode inspired by the original Black Convoy toy's trailer base.

Being an exclusive, it's difficult to army-build Black Convoys to use as drones. Due to unexpectedly high demand, TakaraTomy took the unusual step of producing a second run of the figure, made available on TakaraTomy Mall on 30 November 2017.

This mold was also retooled into Octone.
