Breacher (TF 2010)

This article is about the live-action film series Autobot. For the Generation 1 Autobot, see Breacher (G1){{#switch:{{#sub:Breacher (G1)|-1}} != .= ?= .

}}

Breacher is an Autobot from the movie continuity family (via the 2010 Transformers toyline).
IS: On the beach.
IS NOT: Gregory Peck.

Breacher is as comfortable in water as he is on land, which explains why he's friends with Sea Spray. Due to their operational flexibility, the "twin titans of tide and terra firma" often find themselves tasked with tracking down NEST's enemies on the islands and coastlines of Earth—an example being the Decepticon Crankstart, who is hiding somewhere on the east coast of Africa.<ref>Hunt for the Decepticons Scout Class Breacher packaging bio</ref>

Unite for the Universe

[edit]

Breacher, Sea Spray, and Sideswipe were deployed to the islands of the Aegean Sea in a hunt for the origin of a Decepticon transmission picked up by NEST. Despite the fact that the Decepticon base responsible for the transmission was cloaked, the patrolling Skystalker tried to attack and sink Sea Spray and his passenger, tipping the Autobots off that they were close. After Sea Spray destabilized Skystalker with the blowback from his turbines, Breacher was able to shoot the Decepticon down. His victory was short-lived, however, as he was ambushed and gruesomely dispatched by Lockdown. Bludgeon's Revenge

Precursor World

[edit]

A Warrior of the Seven Lights resembling Breacher was a member of the Blue Order of the Primus Vanguard. When the traitorous Straxus twins unleashed a rage virus to destroy the corps from within, he was attacked by a winged comrade and eventually slain in the ensuing brawl. Vanguard supreme leader Primus later loaded the Warrior's lingering spark into his Golden Noah in an attempt to ferry his soul to the next world. God Neptune comic 1 Unfortunately, this did not work. Transformers (2010)

This was not in the manual.
(Hasbro version)
  • Breacher (Scout Class, 2010)
  • TakaraTomy ID number: AA-07
  • TakaraTomy release date: ???
  • Accessories: Cannon
  • Known designers: Joe Kyde (Hasbro){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Released in the second wave of the 2010 Hunt for the Decepticons toyline, Breacher transforms into a [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}SIBMAS|{{#if:||SIBMAS}}]] AFSV-90 Armoured Fire Support Vehicle. His cannon uses the C joint system, so it can be clipped onto multiple places on his robot mode, as well as on other figures with appropriate mounting points. (The instructions completely neglect to mention this, instead insisting on keeping the weapon attached to the vehicle roof mount in robot mode, thus keeping his weapon on his back even though he comes packed with the gun clipped onto his fist.) His arm-panels also utilize 3 mm clips, therefore they can be equipped with assorted C joint accessories. They can also be removed and used as shields as they too are attached to his wrists with C-joints.
(Takara version)
In vehicle mode, he is designed to fit perfectly into the transport bay of the concurrently-released Sea Spray in his hovercraft mode, rolling out off the deployment ramp with ease.
The TakaraTomy Autobot Alliance release of Breacher, while sold in packaging functionally identical to the Hasbro release, uses a darker blue plastic as its primary color, but not anywhere as dark as the stock imagery at left makes it out to be. The toy is also packed using the infamous twisty "wire" ties, unlike the version released in Hasbro's markets that uses the newer paper-based ones.
This mold was also used to make Generations GDO Brawl. It was meant to be used to make Reveal the Shield Bodyblock, but that entire wave of product was canceled.

Notes

[edit]
  • Breacher was originally listed with the name "Groundshaker" by both Japanese hobby magazines and online stores that offered pre-orders for TakaraTomy's Autobot Alliance range. The toy's packaging, however, is more or less identical to that of his American counterpart, including the name, and the online listings were later changed accordingly. That this name was applied to the toy at some point in development is probably no coincidence, as Breacher's vehicle mode is highly reminiscent of the ATV piloted by the Micromaster Groundshaker.
  • Other influences on the Breacher toy may have included the Micromaster Dropshot, who turns into a blue APC with a similarly double-barrelled cannon, and Roller, another six-wheeled blue vehicle who deploys from the back of a larger Autobot. Indeed, according to Joe Kyde, the subsequent Generations: Thrilling 30 Roller toy has a robot mode that was in turn based on Breacher.<ref>Kyde's response on an Allspark.com thread about the Thrilling 30 Legends partners (archived)</ref>
