Bump of Chicken

Bump of Chicken (バンプ・オブ・チキン Banpu obu Chikin, stylized as BUMP OF CHICKEN) is an alternative rock group in Japan. Members include:

  • Vocalist Motoo Fujiwara (藤原基央 Fujiwara Motoo)
  • Guitarist Hiroaki Masukawa (増川弘明 Masukawa Hiroaki)
  • Bassist Yoshifumi Naoi (直井由文 Naoi Yoshifumi), aka "Chama"
  • Drummer Hideo Masu (升秀夫 Masu Hideo)

Chama's enthusiastic Transformers fandom has led the band to take part in several collaborations with TakaraTomy. Their song "Mayday" was featured in the "Transformers 40th Anniversary Special Movie," to which their cross-branded Optimus Prime toy acted as something of a tie-in.

Bump of Chicken has also done music for other anime projects such as Spy X Family, Delicious in Dungeon, My Hero Academia One Piece The Movie: Dead End no Bōken, Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops—Winged Angels, March Comes in like a Lion and Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, video games like Tales of the Abyss and Final Fantasy Type-0. and another music video collaberation with the Pokemon franchise.

When Bumblebee literally crashed into Bump of Chicken's concert, Chama suggested they play to awaken the robotic giant. The music managed to energize the Autobot, and Bumblebee scanned Chama's blue bass guitar to attain a new "SonicBlue Bumble" form. After watching Bump of Chicken finish their concert, the amazed SonicBlue Bumble thanked Chama by giving him an exosuit. He returned to Cybertron to inform Optimus Prime that Bump of Chicken's music could be used to alleviate their energon shortage. EX Episode
