Buster Witwicky, like his older brothers, Spike and Butch, was raised as a thief. He's basically nothing more than an overmuscled punk in a t-shirt.

Spike and Buster went along with Butch to steal cars, mostly to keep an eye on him. When Butch suggested that Buster would be able to soup up the engine of the tricked-out sports car he'd spotted, Butch had to explain it a couple of times before Buster got what he meant. The car he'd picked turned out to be Rodimus Prime, who took the three brothers to Arizona Bay. Buster at first assumed that the vehicles they were approaching were scavengers, but they turned out to be more Autobots. Down in the Ark, at the bottom of the bay, the trio were overjoyed to find that the Autobots had managed to raid a bank vault and had lots of bits of green paper that they didn't know what to do with. When the Autobots were confused at Spike and Butch's explanations, Buster suggested that this might take a while. They eventually managed to get the basic ideas across, and Rodimus came up with the idea to take control of the Global Orbiting Defense Satellite so they could control the world. Before the plan could begin, Goldbug issued a leadership challenge, and the brothers watched Rodimus defeat him.

To infiltrate Burpleson Air Force Base, the three Witwicky boys posed as hot rodders and drove Rodimus around until they were caught and dragged inside the base for questioning. While the Autobots made their presence known, the boys were helped by their military brother, Bruce. When they were joined by Lieutenant McMillan, Buster was confused by the Lieutenant saying the robots were from Mars, since he thought they were from Cybertron. As they cuffed McMillan, Buster gave him a punch to keep him quiet. Meanwhile, the Decepticons had set the G.O.D.S. to destroy the base and sounded the evacuation alarm, so the brothers found that they really needed to get out of there quickly. Eye in the Sky
