This article is about the Decepticon. For his heroic counterpart, see Create-A-Bot (Autobot){{#switch:{{#sub:Create-A-Bot (Autobot)|-1}} != .= ?= .

Create-A-Bot is a Decepticon from the Movie continuity family.
I should've been called "Construct-A-Con."

The Decepticon "Create-A-Bot" is a rookie in the Decepticon army sent to Earth in search of the All Spark. Under the tutelage of senior soldiers like Barricade and Starscream, this new warrior can assume a wide variety of alternate modes scanned from the local life-forms' vehicles in his fight against the Autobots. He's an honorable sort, believing in the best the Decepticons have to offer, but has fallen in under the mentorship of Starscream, who has decidedly more underhanded intentions than he's let on. Nonetheless, Create-A-Bot keeps a cool head in the field, willing to put in the long hours needed to make the mission go according to plan and to build bonds of trust among the Decepticon ranks.

You Autobots are no better than we Decepticons. We might be on opposite sides, but we're both playing the same game.

Take a good look before I get scrapped.

His Autobot equal destroyed three drones as bait to lure him to a particular location on a casino strip. In the form of a dark purple SUV, he faced off against his Autobot counterpart before the do-gooder could escape to Tranquility, and despite the fact he says he is "No one to be trifled with", lost the fight.

He was later in the Hoover Dam discussing with Megatron about the bombs planted on the Dam that could result in thousands of human casualties. The Autobots eavesdropped on him and Ironhide subsequently defused the bombs. Transformers Autobots

What are you looking at?

Commanded by Lord Starscream, Create-A-Bot arrived on Earth, Las Vegas to locate the origin of a Decepticon distress beacon. Starscream fobbed him off onto Barricade, who reluctantly showed Create-A-Bot the ropes, starting with a "basic systems check". During this time, he fought several Autobots, and scanned a Pickup, and drove to the location Barricade left for him. However Barricade had him perform one final task before meeting face to face: destroy all Autobot forces, luring them by attacking humans. Create-A-Bot successfully took them on, even an Autobot equivalent of himself. He then met Barricade in Tranquillity, who asked him to blow up some vehicles. This got him in trouble with the human authorities, which he fought off. Barricade then revealed that the signal came from Megatron, who Create-A-Bot dismissed as a relic, and received a slap for his insult.

Some time later, Barricade told Create-A-Bot that an Autobot was in hiding in Tranquillity, and they had to root him out. Barricade asked him to scan, or destroy, some vehicle forms at several locations. After fighting the Autobot at the third location, he scanned him for information, and discovered that Bumblebee was investigating a lead about a frozen "giant metal man". After Barricade headed off to deal with him, Create-A-Bot communicated with Starscream, telling him Barricade wasn't forthcoming, and mentioned the "metal man" in the Arctic.

At first, little information was divulged to the other Decepticons until Starscream arrived on Earth himself. In the meantime, Barricade reluctantly showed Create-A-Bot the ropes, and later put him in charge of the other Decepticons in the Middle East.

After the other Decepticons left Create-A-Bot to his own devices, Starscream finally arrived on Earth, personally greeting Create-A-Bot by nearly landing on him. Finally explaining his motives (in his own ass-backwards Starscream way) he lied through his teeth saying that releasing Megatron would cause the downfall of the Decepticons, and that the All Spark was actually on Earth (which it was). He then explained (lying again this time) that he simply wanted the All Spark to prevent a power struggle as he would need his full attention on preventing Megatron's revival.

That didn't work.

Once Starscream got a hold of the All Spark, Create-A-Bot had already helped to liberate Megatron from his icy tomb and led him back to Tranquility, where the Decepticon tyrant and his NEW second-in-command would face off against the traitorous jetfighter. Starscream used the power of the All Spark to power himself up to new levels (ignoring the precedent of over-powered Starscreams inexplicably causing their own downfall) and attacked his former boss.

That didn't work either.

Outwitting the empowered Starscream, Create-A-Bot stole the All Spark from him and smashed him in the chest, weakening him enough to have his Spark extinguished by Megatron. Create-A-Bot would die on that spot, the backlash from the All Spark overpowering his circuits, but he died a warrior and a true Decepticon.

That didn't go over too well.

Megatron returned after Starscream's defeat only to watch and laugh as Create-A-Bot slowly died. As the young Decepticon pleaded to be repaired, Megatron would only say that his weakness was his downfall, and that all of the Decepticons who fell in battle were worthless pawns to be stripped away like rust. Create-A-Bot then watched in horror as Megatron leapt at him, tearing him apart. Transformers Decepticons

Transformers (2007)

[edit]
Payload's Body type and Vehicle Form doubles as a one of Create-A-Bots scannable alternate forms.
  • Payload (Deluxe Class, 2007)
Part of the fifth wave of Transformers Deluxe figures, Payload transforms into an unlicensed approximation of a Bulldog II Armored Truck. His robot mode is based on the mono-eyed Decepticon version of the armored truck drones seen in Transformers The Game.
In robot mode, his main gimmick is a large spring-guided capture claw that extends several inches out of his stomach. However, when the claw-shaft is retracted, it sticks equally far out of his lower back. His head features light-piping for his lens-face.
Several pieces on Payload tend to pop off easily: his brush guard, midriff-plate/claw-center, and even his upper shoulder/head assembly. The mold was later retooled to include larger pegs for the shoulder/head assembly and an added tab on the brush-guard, to connect to the new slot in the claw plunger. While this was intended to give the pieces a better fit, it actually puts more pressure on the parts and causes them to pop off even more easily. The chest piece, however, fits fairly well on either version, but is still easy to remove.
Payload had a tendency to sit on shelves for weeks, with some examples of end displays filled completely with Payload figures. This has led to some fans affectionately renaming him Pegload.
The mold was later retooled into Movie Advanced Series Dispensor. This toy can also be repurposed as the Class Beta drone units.

Notes

[edit]
  • Just like his heroic counterpart, Create-A-Bot can adapt into numerous forms that can change his status. Several of his forms cannot be accessed in the game, but can be obtained by earning WiFi points by playing Battle for the All Spark.
  • The G1 Starscream altmode could be unlocked by visiting a Target store in the US with the appropriate Nintendo DS Download Station card, then downloading the Transformers demo with the game card was inserted. However, it was only available on one version of the Download Station software, and many stores never received the correct version of the software. Alternatively, it could be unlocked by collecting 2500 WiFi points. However, due to the closure of Game Spy and the resultant deactivation of the Nintendo DS online servers, this is no longer possible.
  • Besides G1 Starscream, Create-A-Bot's Body types are based on various characters from the PSP and Console releases of Transformers The Game.
