Shot out of the skies above a devastated Earth by Megatron, the Wreckers needed to get a message back to warn Optimus Prime and the Autobots on Cybertron. Finding themselves in the Mojave Desert, Springer had Roadbuster, Leadfoot and Sandstorm run interference with Megatron's zombies while he, Kup and Whirl made for the Deep Space Network, though Kup peeled off from the group to provide a further distraction. Loose Ends, Part 2 Although the signal successfully reached Cybertron, Megatron revealed that he had left the Deep Space Network intact and allowed the Wreckers to reach it as his plan had been to get Prime's attention all along.
