Hang on to your hats! It's gonna get a little windy! Heheheheh!

The Destruction Team is a group of five powerful military vehicles. Powered by Super Energon, they are each powerful in their own right, and they can combine to form the heavy assault warrior Bruticus Maximus.

The members of the Destruction Team are:

When Megatron destroyed Superion Maximus's brother, he unlocked the living seal on the Super Energon pool and awakened the remaining Combiners. While Superion Maximus was aghast at his brother's destruction, the Decepticon combiners were merely curious about who had managed to reactivate them. Megatron declared that the Super Energon was his and that he was master of all Decepticons. Ambition

Superion Maximus protested that the Super Energon belonged to all Transformers as Megatron jumped into the pool, changing into Galvatron once again. When the Autobot combiner tried to attack the reborn Decepticon leader to no avail, Galvatron ordered the two Decepticon combiners to give chase as Superion Maximus fled. Later, Superion confronted the two Decepticons, reminding them that they'd protected the Super Energon together for millions of years, and asking them why they had let one Transformer have control of it all. Bruticus Maximus and Constructicon Maximus merely replied that Galvatron was their master now, and that he represented the future of Cybertron. Galvatron!

Ever walk a mile in another man's limbs?

Bruticus Maximus eventually paid for his treachery when a vengeful Superion Maximus attacked both Decepticon combiners. Surprised by the Autobot combiner's ferocity, both Decepticons were caught off-guard at first, until they over-confidently held him down, which proved to be their downfall. Superion launched all of his limbs at Constructicon Maximus, pinning him against a wall, as Superion's central component Storm Jet crushed the Decepticon combiner's spark, killing him.

Angered, Bruticus Maximus destroyed Superion's limbs, then began crushing him. Just as it seemed hopeless, a ghost-like entity appeared and shot off Bruticus's arm, freeing Superion. It was an image of Superion's older brother. Superion Maximus powerlinked with the dead Constructicon Maximus' limbs and attacked the confused Bruticus, piercing his spark, and causing a massive explosion which destroyed the remaining Decepticon. The Energon/Super Link Destruction Team is a set of five military vehicles: a large mobile missile-launcher APC, two small anti-aircraft tanks and two small assault helicopters.
Similar to the Generation 1 Scramble City-style combiner teams, the five can merge into a super robot, with the APC as the torso and the other four forming limbs, via universal connection points on the super robot's torso, allowing many different configurations, and even the swapping of limbs with the concurrently-released Air Team and Construction Team.
In Japan, the Destruction Team was only available as part of a complete Bruticus gift set, released in the seventeenth (and final) wave of Super Link product, and the only item released in said wave.
The Destruction Team molds were redecoed into the 2008 Universe toyline Combaticons, the Revenge of the Fallen Combaticons, and three of the Transformers Collectors' Club-exclusive Nexus Maximus components.

  • Barricade (Combat Class, 2004)
  • Blackout (Energon Class, 2005)
  • Blight (Energon Class, 2005)
  • Kickback (Energon Class, 2004)
  • Stormcloud (Energon Class, 2004)
In Hasbro's markets, the Destruction Team members were sold separately, spread across the last two waves of the Energon "Combat Class" and "Energon Class" assortments. Barricade, Kickback and Stormcloud were released in the seventh wave of products, in late 2004 for the North American, Asian, and Australasian markets, with Blackout and Blight released later for wave eight in early 2005. With the pending changeover to the next line, Cybertron, fans feared the tail-ender phenomenon would strike wave eight, leaving them with an incomplete Bruticus Maximus.
There are a number of minor deco differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions of the team, detailed in each individuals' entry, but one universal difference is the Takara versions all lack the gear-shaped "Powerlinx" symbol found on the Hasbro toys.
