"Does this shirt look...red...to you?"

Dropshot is not a very lucky robot. He's a dedicated warrior, to be sure, but he's not very good at avoiding injury. At least he's been lucky enough that his parts were always salvageable and his spark has yet to be extinguished.

Dropshot was stationed on Cybertron with Jetfire, and accompanied him to the Decepticon Command Headquarters to investigate a space bridge anomaly above Cybertron. While exploring the abandoned halls, he was cut in two by the Unicron herald Bludgeon. The injury was apparently not fatal and his parts were recovered. Worlds Collide, Part 3 of 4

We don't have toys on the shelves. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Ten years later, during the worldwide Terrorcon assault on Earth, Dropshot, Overload, and Ironhide were stationed at Base Site One in Canada's Yukon Territory, where their equipment included a planetary shield generator. Base Site 1 had lost contact with Cybertron, which would put the Autobots' countermeasures in jeopardy. While Overload suspected the Terrorcons may have something to do with their problem, Dropshot noted it could just as easily be an equipment malfunction. Multiplicity, Pt. 3

The arrival of Scorponok confirmed Overload's theory, and Overload and Dropshot were quickly put out of commission. Multiplicity, Pt. 4 Left alone to face not only Scorponok, but Megatron, Ironhide tried desperately to rouse the fallen Autobots, but they remained unconscious throughout the fight. No Exit

Energon ceased publication before the story could conclude. The following would have taken place in unpublished issues.

While repairing a defective grid switch, Dropshot was accosted by Wheeljack, Skywarp, and Thundercracker, who were all inspired by the return of Megatron. Just as Dropshot was about meet the provocation with his fists, the spectre of Starscream appeared and manhandled Dropshot, sending the Decepticons to flee in horror. Starscream discarded the body of Dropshot once it was nearly drained, seeking to extinguish and consume all other Transformers. Armageddon Part 1

Toys

[edit]
God makes platypuses, Primus makes Dropshots.
  • No toy of Dropshot was ever released. However, his character model was based on an unreleased Generation 1 Triple Changer toy whose prototype is seen in the Japanese Transformers Generations book. The toy transformed from robot to F-15 fighter jet to a horse, though the beast mode looks a bit more like a llama. The toy may have been developed to be a carded toy rather than boxed like the other Triple Changers; according to the book, its robot mode was only 10 centimeters (roughly 4 inches) tall.
