Ed Gilbert, born Edmund Francis Giesbert (June 29, 1931May 8, 1999) was an American voice actor. Some of his more notable voice roles include Baloo from Disney's Talespin, Looten Plunder from Captain Planet and the Planeteers, General Hawk from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Metlar from Inhumanoids, El Seed from The Tick and Emperor Gorganus from Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills.

Gilbert was also a prolific entomologist and published a number of papers under his birth name. In 1999, Gilbert passed away due to lung cancer.

  • According to Dan Gilvezan in his autobiography Bumblebee & Me, Gilbert once brought a dinner plate-sized South American Tarantula to a Transformers recording session, which at one point managed to escape its container much to the rest of the cast's horror. Gilbert eventually recovered the spider, but Wally Burr instituted a very firm "no pets" policy from that point on.
