Electric Racing Set

The Electric Racing Set is an unassuming racetrack, though it is partially constructed with the mysterious "Nite-Glow" substance.

[edit]- Transformers Electric Racing Set (1985)
- Accessories: 2 racing controllers, 13 track segments, 8 guardrails, 2 flag poles, wall power pack
- Produced in collaboration with Tyco, the Electric Racing Set was a fully-functional slot car track set that included two transformable slot cars, Natron and Freezon (Only named in the TV commercial for the set, not on the box itself). Once the track is assembled and plugged in, Natron and Freezon can race around the oblong track, controlled by squeezing the trigger on their controllers. The more you squeeze the trigger, the faster the cars would go. The robots can be raced in both car and robot modes, though they need to be transformed by hand.
- The box advertises Nite-Glow track elements and stickers, which is a fancy way of saying that the guardrails, flags, road stickers, and even Natron and Freezon themselves all glow-in-the-dark, so you can race under the cover of darkness.
- This set used the Tyco Magnum 440 system, meaning the track and cars from this are compatible with other sets that use that system.
Notes
[edit]- The artwork on the box depicts Freezon and Natron in blue and yellow respectively, rather than the color schemes of their final toys. Additionally, the cars depicted in the artwork do not resemble their Ford Mustang alternate modes.
