Energon Strikeshield
The Energon Strikeshield, sometimes varyingly referred to as an Energon Shield, Energon Axe or Strike Shield, is one of the many melee weapons used by Optimus Prime. Why would he need another axe when he already has his trusty Energon-axe? It's better not to ask.
The Strikeshield is capable of converting from axe mode into an arm-mounted shield. It could sometimes combine with his Ion blaster to form the "Sentrystrike Ultra-Blaster".

[edit]Aiding Optimus Prime in his fight against the Decepticon menace, Wheeljack designed both Optimus's "W-M3 RF Ion Blaster" and "W-50 Dual-Mech Energon Strikeshield". Both of these weapons could combine and modlock into the "Sentrystrike Ultra-Blaster" using the C.O.M.B.A.T. System. Autobot weapons database on Hasbro Pulse<ref>"Siege Optimus Prime C.O.M.B.A.T. Toys
[edit]War for Cybertron: Siege
[edit]

- Optimus Prime (Voyager Class, 2019)
- Hasbro ID number: WFC-S11
- TakaraTomy ID number: SG-06
- TakaraTomy release date: February 23, 2019
- Hidden message code: IACON
- Accessories: "W-50 Dual-Mech Energon Strikeshield," "W-M3 RF Ion Blaster" (combines to form "Sentrystrike Ultra-Blaster")
- Known designers: Aaron Gray (Hasbro), Yūya Ōnishi (TakaraTomy){{#if: AJ Piejko-Brown (packaging)|, AJ Piejko-Brown (packaging)}}
- Part of the first wave of Siege Voyager Class figures, Optimus Prime transforms from robot to Cybertronian armored truck cab and back. He includes two weapons compatible with the C.O.M.B.A.T. System—the "W-50 Dual-Mech Energon Strikeshield," which is an axe that transforms into a shield, and the "W-M3 RF Ion Blaster." Both weapons can combine to form the "Sentrystrike Ultra-Blaster." Optimus Prime also features "battle damage" paint applications on several parts of his body, as well as multiple hardpoints all over himself and his weapons to accommodate "Fire Blasts" from the Battle Masters assortment, which can be used to simulate blaster fire or explosions.
- Opening the figure's windows in vehicle mode shows the Matrix of Leadership molded into the plastic behind the windows. Due to the transformation, the Matrix doesn't end up in the chest in robot mode. Despite being a Voyager-scale figure, the truck mode is considerably tiny, in scale with a Legends-sized figure. Whether through coincidence or design, it's possible to fit a Power of the Primes Matrix core (and by extension, a Prime Master or Titan Master) in his chest. An additional, undocumented but confirmed third "hover truck" mode exists, which is achieved by folding all of his wheels under his vehicle mode. While the back wheels don't lock in anywhere, the two front wheels have small tabs that plug into slots on the back of the wheel sections that aren't used for either of his other modes.<ref>"At some convention somewhere one Hasbro rep let slip that Siege Optimus Prime also had a hidden hover truck mode." on Toybox Soapbox</ref> Depending on the figure's quality control, the truck's roof may not sit securely flush in vehicle mode, notably on the rear right side.
- There is a message written in Cybertronian letters on Optimus Prime's box art, which reads "LIGHT THE DARKEST HOUR."
- This mold was later redecoed into Nemesis Prime, and a handful of parts were reused for the Earthrise Optimus Prime figure released in 2020, including the shins, as such, the trailer packaged with the Earthrise figure is fully compatible with the Siege figure's truck mode.
- While it doesn't happen in its vintage release the unpaintable plastic on subsequent reruns of the figure has suffered from photodegradation.
- While Hasbro and TakaraTomy's releases of the toy are almost identical, the battle damage paint apps on the latter's shoulders and legs are slightly altered in size.<ref>{{#if: シージのオプティマス。 右が海外版、左が日本版で後ろが海外前が日本版。 汚れのタンポ印刷も違うバリエーションなのかねぇ(´・ω・`) #TFTOYの面白さを伝え隊 https://t.co/g3lMOROVdO |"シージのオプティマス。 右が海外版、左が日本版で後ろが海外前が日本版。 汚れのタンポ印刷も違うバリエーションなのかねぇ(´・ω・`) #TFTOYの面白さを伝え隊 https://t.co/g3lMOROVdO"—|}}{{#if: https://twitter.com/Alfes2010/status/1099375629361795072 |Alfes2010|Alfes2010}}{{#if: Twitter |, Twitter|}}{{#if: |, ""|}}{{#if: 2019 |, 2019{{#if: 02 |/{{#switch:{{#len:02}}|1=002|02}}{{#if: 23|/{{#switch:{{#len:23}}|1=023|23}}|}}}}|}}{{#if: https://twitter.com/Alfes2010/status/1099375629361795072 ||}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/Alfes2010/status/1099375629361795072%7C7%7C11}}%7Cweb.archive= (archive link)|}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/Alfes2010/status/1099375629361795072%7C8%7C11}}%7Cweb.archive= (archive link)|}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/Alfes2010/status/1099375629361795072%7C7%7C10}}%7Carchive.is= (archive link)|}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/Alfes2010/status/1099375629361795072%7C8%7C10}}%7Carchive.is= (archive link)|}}{{#if: | (dead link)}}</ref>

- Classic Animation Optimus Prime (Voyager Class, 2019)
- ID number: WFC-S65
- Accessories: "W-50 Dual-Mech Energon Strikeshield," "W-M3 RF Ion Blaster" (combines to form "Sentrystrike Ultra-Blaster")
- Known designers: Mark Maher (deco artist){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
- Specially branded for the 35th anniversary of the Transformers brand, Siege "Classic Animation Optimus Prime" is a redeco of the Voyager Class figure above, featuring a cel-shaded paint pattern that evokes his appearance in the cartoon (though the physical result is more like that of Devastation). In addition, the grey plastics and paint operations are now replaced with white, and the tire rims' paint is omitted.
- Alongside fellow cel-shaded figure Megatron and the other "35th Anniversary" figures, Optimus was exclusive to Walmart in the United States and Canada, and among the first figures that debuted a new, "worldwide" multilingual packaging design that merged the languages typically found on European packaging with those found on American packaging. In a bit of a snafu, though, all the English texts on his packaging are simply repeated four times, instead of being translated into French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, or omitted in case two or more translations would be identical to each other (or to the English version).

Premium Finish
[edit]
- Optimus Prime (Voyager Class, October 30, 2021)
- TakaraTomy ID number: PF WFC-01 / PFGR 01
- Hasbro ID number: GE-01
- Accessories: "W-50 Dual-Mech Energon Strikeshield," "W-M3 RF Ion Blaster" (combines to form "Sentrystrike Ultra-Blaster")
- Part of the first wave of TakaraTomy's Premium Finish subline, Optimus Prime is a redeco of the Siege Voyager Class toy, with the same weapons and C.O.M.B.A.T. System functionality.
- In a similar deco to the ThreeZero figure, Optimus Prime is redecoed to be completely accurate to his on-screen appearance in the War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon; for example, the translucent blue parts are now green, an extra white stripe is added in the front of the sideways truck kibble, and the battle damage is changed.

Notes
[edit]- Despite the axe-shield included with the Siege figures being referred to as a "W-50 Dual Mech Energon Strikeshield", it wouldn't be until its depiction in the MPG figure that it actually featured any sign of being an Energon weapon.
- The Strikeshield is seemingly inspired by the larger handheld axes used by Optimus in Dark of the Moon and the War for Cybertron video game.
