Knock Out's latest invention turns Megatron into an even greater menace than before.

Synopsis

[edit]

Knock Out has developed a new helmet designed to strengthen Megatron, but when the Decepticon leader tries it on, he is transformed into the New Emperor of Destruction, Galvatron! The unstable Galvatron heads to another room, where Starscream is unveiling a statue he's built in his own image, and blows the effigy to bits before proceeding to go on a violent rampage. The other Decepticons are frightened by his behavior, but unable to stop him because of the power granted by the helmet, forcing Cyclonus to call the Autobots for help.

Autobot leaders Optimus Prime and Rodimus arrive and defeat Galvatron by having Rodimus distract him, allowing Optimus to sneak up and take off his helmet. Megatron reverts to normal, but having no memories of what happened during his time at Galvatron, he immediately gets angry at finding Optimus Prime in his base, causing Starscream to reflect that he's not really that different from before.

Unfortunately Knock Out has learned nothing, as to Breakdown's horror he soon develops some new helmets for Megatron to try on.

Transformers references

[edit]
  • "New Emperor of Destruction" was Generation 1 Galvatron's title.
  • The unveiling of Starscream's statue, as well as Galvatron's destruction of it down to its legs, is based on his coronation scene from The Transformers: The Movie.
  • Galvatron attacks aliens from the Galvatron-centric Generation 1 cartoon episode "Webworld".
  • The helmets offered to Megatron at the end by Knock Out are based on his Sharkticon Megatron design from Beast Hunters and his Super Megatron design from The Battlestars series (right down the S&M symbol on the forehead).
  • Two other versions of Starscream, based on Armada Starscream and Machine Wars Starscream, appear at his statue unveiling.
  • Having appeared as plain Waspinator at the start of the previous strip, Thrustinator appears as plain Thrust in this comic, before being rebuilt as Thrustinator again after being blown apart in Galvatron's rampage.
