The Enterprise captain is a human from the Hearts of Steel portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Enterprise captain is a seaman operating a paddle steamer in San Francisco Bay during the latter part of the 19th century. He wears a hat with an "E" on it.

Hearts of Steel

When Tobias Muldoon wanted to demonstrate his prototype submarine the S.S. Vicuna to Mark Twain and Jules Verne, they met him in the waters of San Francisco Bay aboard the Enterprise. The captain initially scorned Muldoon's vessel while Twain and Verne were astounded, but he was ultimately vindicated when it sank and they had to throw Muldoon a line. Hearts of Steel #1
