Excavator (G1)

This article is about the Decepticon Micromaster. For his heroic counterpart, see Excavator (SG){{#switch:{{#sub:Excavator (SG)|-1}} != .= ?= .

Excavator is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Don't mess with this guy. His fists are bigger than his head.

Excavator would probably be perfectly happy as an Autobot, so long as he got to build things. He prefers to quietly gather supplies and tools in anticipation of the Constructor Squad's next project, and then throws himself into the actual work with enthusiasm and excitement.

His combiner partner is Stonecruncher. While Excavator doesn't hate him, he still tries to avoid the guy. Probably because he likes the peace and quiet of being left to think to himself, rather than being dragged off to a kegger.<ref>More than Meets the Eye</ref>

The Transformers

[edit]
This is the work he really loves.
  • Constructor Squad (Micromaster Combiner Squad, 1990)
Released in the seventh and final year of the original The Transformers toyline in the US (sixth and not-final in European markets), Excavator transforms into a crane trailer which is intended to be the back half of a crane truck, which he forms with his combiner partner Stonecruncher. He can, of course, be connected to any other Micromaster Combiner to form new weird vehicles.
Excavator was only available in a six-pack with his squad mates Stonecruncher, Grit, Hammer, Knockout, and Sledge.
This mold was also used to make Surge.

  • Crane Cannon W Team (Micro Trailer team, 1991)
  • ID number: C-368
  • Accessories: Micro Trailer #8
Takara's Return of Convoy release of Excavator is physically identical to the Hasbro-release.
He was only available in four-pack with the similarly-unchanged Stonecruncher, Power Punch and Direct-Hit. The set also comes with Micro Trailer #8, which any toy in the set can "tow" or be stored within. Like all Return of Convoy characters, he was marketed as an Autobot instead of a Decepticon.
