Knockout (G1)

This article is about the Micromaster construction vehicle. For the full-sized sports car, see Knock Out (G1){{#switch:{{#sub:Knock Out (G1)|-1}}|!=|.=|?=|.}} For a list of other meanings, see Knockout (disambiguation).
Knockout is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Big dirty hoe

The other members of the Constructor Squad keep an eye on Knockout. Not because they think he's a treacherous backstabber: he's as loyal as the rest of the squad. It's not because his enthusiasm gets him in over his head: his teammates actually find his enthusiasm motivating. And it's certainly not because he's a lazy slacker: he works as hard as any of them.

It's because he faints when he gets too excited.

So his teammates watch him, because the last thing you need in combat is an unconscious backhoe.<ref>More than Meets the Eye #3</ref>

His combiner partner is Grit.

Toy bio

[edit]

Knockout was an Autobot and a member of Shovel Team portion of the Dump Shovel W Team, a group of Micromasters who acted as support for the Battlestars. As their superior officers advanced on the battlefield, the pairs formed positions and strengthened defenses by actions such as creating bases or setting minefield traps. Return of Convoy bio

[edit]

Having fallen in with Gigatron's forces, Knockout grew disillusioned and had a mind to desert after watching them kill fellow Decepticons. After Gigatron imprisoned his old buddy Grit, Knockout went to visit him and his cellmates, Drift and Ratchet, who attempted the old "pretend to be injured to get the guard to open the cell" trick. Though Knockout immediately saw through the ruse, he opened it anyway; Grit's capture was the final straw for Knockout, who had come to free them and give their weapons back. Grit told Knockout to go find a way off-planet while he went to take revenge on Hellbat. Empire of Stone #2

Toys

The Transformers

[edit]
Less attractive than his name would suggest.
  • Constructor Squad (Micromaster Combiner Squad, 1990)
Released in the seventh and final year of the original The Transformers toyline in the US (sixth and not-final in European markets), Knockout transforms into a backhoe truck trailer which is intended to be the rear half of a purple backhoe truck, which he forms with his combiner partner Grit. He can, of course, be connected to any other Micromaster Combiner or Combiner Transport to make new weird vehicles.
Knockout was only available in a six-pack with his squad mates Grit, Excavator, Hammer, Sledge, and Stonecruncher.
This mold was also used to make Gusher.

  • Dump Shovel W Team (Micro Trailer team, 1991)
  • ID number: C-367
  • Accessories: Micro Trailer #7
Takara's Return of Convoy release of Knockout is physically identical to the Hasbro-release.
He was only available in a complete set with Grit, Sledge, and Hammer. The set also comes with Micro Trailer #7, which any toy in the set can "tow" or be stored within. Like all Return of Convoy characters, he was marketed as an Autobot instead of a Decepticon.
