Using advanced technology, the Mechanic and Juan stopped a truck transporting a Formax computer. Upon seeing the computer, the Mechanic screamed in delight that his machine shop would have everything it needed now and that he could retire from stealing. The truck turned out to be a trap by the Portland Police Department to draw out the Mechanic. However, the Autobots also showed up and the resulting tussle between the police and the robots allowed the Mechanic to sneak off with the truck.

The Formax was installed in the Mechanic's base and attached to Radar Dish Number Three. Using both, Juan was able to detect Goldbug and two police helicopters. Juan's efforts were in vain, as an alliance between Blaster and the police invaded the base and sent the Mechanic running. Mechanical Difficulties!
