[edit]Pretending to be a potential customer, Farley had set up a trap to capture the notorious car thief known as the Mechanic. Had it not been for the Mechanic's accomplice Juan and Ratchet's bad decision-making, the trap would've worked. Instead, the Mechanic got away to be a problem for the department another day. Funeral for a Friend!
Greco and Altman brought two youngsters in that they found in panic near Forbes's Garage, the previous hideout of the Mechanic. The duo had a story about a car which moved on its own, which Stoler interpreted as further proof that the strange robots were in league with the Mechanic, who had recently upgraded from a nuisance to a full-blown radar dish-thief. Greco and Altman were put on the case with orders to give priority to the robots if they were involved.
Contrary, the robots ended up valuable allies to the police, as only their help prevented a bloodbath by the Mechanic's latest inventions. The Mechanic got away, but Juan and many other criminal masterminds (who had intended to do business with the Mechanic) were caught. Mechanical Difficulties!
