Gari Robo-kun is a Transformer from some strange continuity.
Peace has finally broken out between the Autobots and the frozen novelty industry.

Gari Robo-kun (ガリロボ君) is a strange being that can convert between a robot and a flavored ice pop.

On a hot day in the Legends World, Rattrap played a prank on Dinobot by giving him a Gari Robo-kun instead of fetching a real popsicle. Dinobot turned the tables by eating it anyway, much to Rattrap's despair. Prank

In the ancient world of the Primus Vanguard, an indeterminate number of grape flavored Gari Robo-kuns were alternately the favorite snack and kind-of-signature-weapon-you'd-really-expect-to-have-a-fancy-name of the fearsome Purple Wicked Convoy.

Wicked wielded Gari Robo-kun in battle against the Specters.

Later, Wicked enjoyed a grape pop while discussing Primus's unraveling with Yellow Splendid Convoy and White Gallant Convoy. Finale Prelude

Much later, Wicked sampled another(?) grape pop while conferring with his Purple Warriors on the Purple Planet. God Neptune comic 1

When Primus slew Wicked and claimed the Purple Star Power of his Purple Matrix as part of his plot for universal destruction, a lone grape Gari Robo-kun was all that remained, glowing with a mysterious inner light. Finale Prelude

In short order this grape pop, reduced to little more than a stick with Gari Robo-kun's insignia, transformed, revealing itself as Wicked's pointedly not GariGari-kun shaped backup body!

Wicked produced yet another popsicle to gesticulate with as he explained his deception to Primus's diminutive core form Oracle.

Much, much later, Wicked enjoyed one final grape pop as he stood assembled with Magna Convoy's next generation Primus Vanguard. Finale

Transformers Works with Garigari-kun

  • Gari Robo-kun Soda (2012)

Produced in collaboration between TakaraTomy and Japanese ice confection company Akagi Nyugyo, Gari Robo-kun turns from a life-sized "soda" blue popsicle into a horrifying fusion of the company's Gari mascot and Optimus Prime. The toy is both a shellformer and a partformer, requiring the bottom part of the popsicle to be removed and converted into the accessories. In robot mode, he has articulation at his ball-jointed shoulders and swivel wrists.
He can be armed with the popsicle stick, now a sword, and a shield made from a section of the alt-mode. He also includes a popsicle, a mini version of his alt mode, which he can hold. His fist holes, and his accessories, use 5mm pegs. All of the accessories can connect together and store on the robot mode back. The upper jaw of the robot mode has a ratchet mechanism which allows the figure to simulate him biting on the included popsicle accessory.
He comes in a resealable wrapper plastered with licensing information and a picture of Gari's nominal mascot shaking hands with Prime Optimus Prime. Does this place him in the Prime universe? Only time will tell.

A redeco of the above toy, in a brown "cola" color. His robot mode armor is colored like the traditional Gari-kun mascot clothing, and his helmet gray to match his hair.

An exclusive redeco of the above toy, in a purple "grape" color.
This flavor of Gari Robo-kun was Purple Wicked Convoy's signature weapon, favorite snack, and back-up body in the Generations Selects Special Comic.

This completely silver chromed version of Gari Robo-kun was a Lucky Draw figure available exclusively to those who ordered desserts at restaurants in Shibuya Parco during the Gari-Gari Kun festival in July of 2012. Participants could enter the draw to win this version of the figure which is apparently limited to only two figures.

  • Gari Robo-kun is based on Garigari-kun (ガリガリ君, "Mr. Crunchy"), a mascot for a brand of ice pop made by the Akagi Nyugyo Corporation.
  • Gari Robo-kun has a unique faction insignia on his left shoulder. The symbol is a stylized portrait of Garigari-Kun made to resemble a traditional Transformers faction insignia.
  • Gari Robo-kun is the first Transformers toy that transforms into a food item.
  • In the finale of the Generations Selects Special Comic, a grape pop inhabited by Purple Wicked Convoy's spark transforms from Gari Robo-Kun Grape's alternate mode to... Generations Selects Shattered Glass Optimus Prime's robot mode! Don't ask us how that works, but a desire to dodge licensing fees was likely involved.
