Geomotus is an Autobot from the 2019 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Notable for helping Putt-Putt get home from the Moon in 1993.

Geomotus is one of Cybertron's most proficient geologists. A dedicated scientist, he's happiest when he's outdoors exploring the vast and ever-changing vistas of his homeworld—whether that's spelunking into the Sonic Canyons or surveying the Rust Sea with the assistance of his on-board radar systems—rather than fighting Decepticons.

Unlike most Cybertronians, Geomotus is neurodivergent. In practice this means that he's blunt, occasionally withdrawn, and sometimes struggles with social cues—for instance, he sometimes forgets that not all Transformers are as interested in planetary tectonics or fissure dynamics as he is, and might not appreciate hearing about them in inopportune situations. To help him adjust to unfamiliar or upsetting situations, he carries with him a set of "shapes": handheld blocks that allow him to self-soothe by focusing on something familiar. Despite these eccentricities, the Autobots and their allies view Geomotus as a respected colleague, whose meticulous, methodical nature allows him to detect patterns in Cybertron's metallic strata that less careful observers might overlook.

On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?

Geomotus was an employee of the Academy of Research in Crystal City under the guidance of Highbrow. Escape Part Two However, he spent most of his time out in the field with his good friend Landmine, a fellow geologist he idolized for his pioneering descent into Cybertron's core. The Change In Your Nature Part Two In the past, he'd worked with the psychologist Froid to help manage his condition, and his knowledge relating to the geology of Cybertron meant that he was sometimes called on to work with Cybertron's Security Operations when the need arose—so long as Froid ensured that Geomotus limited his interactions with the notoriously abrasive Prowl. The World In Your Eyes Part Three In the past, he'd also worked with the temperamental Termagax, who enjoyed his company. Sea of Rust I

When Chromia requested his assistance during the investigation into Brainstorm's murder, Geomotus joined her in Rubble's apartment; though his brusque demeanour initially confused Rubble, Windblade and Chromia explained his condition to the young Cybertronian before heading out into the badlands. The World In Your Eyes Part Three

While out in the wilderness, Geomotus reported that the surface material was unsuitable for leaving tracks, but noted an unusual pattern of microfissures that he speculated could be the result of excavation. The three chanced across the reclusive hermit Cyclonus near the Memorial Crater; suspecting that he might know something about Brainstorm's death, Chromia and Windblade were able to catch up to him and question him for information. Unable to pick up that Cyclonus was merely stalling, Geomotus was intrigued by his comments about recent geological events in the area. The World In Your Eyes Part Four Some time later, Security Operations discovered the presence of an underground Rise bunker beneath the crater, and Chromia called Geomotus for an expert opinion. Although the geologist was preparing for an expedition of his own to the Metal Geysers with his friend Landmine, he confirmed that the microfissures he'd found earlier were likely the result of careless large-scale excavations. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Three

Landmine and Geomotus made it to the Metal Geysers to conduct their survey before a series of unusual tectonic movements caused the entire region to erupt and melt their monitoring equipment. Seconds later, the pair witnessed the destruction of an immersant Titan in the nearby Cybertronian Mountains. The Change In Your Nature Part Two

In the coming weeks, these unusual seismic patterns would continue to befuddle geologists, and when a series of particularily violent disturbances tore apart the oldest and most geologically stable area on the planet, Highbrow sent Geomotus, Landmine, Azimuth, and Beachcomber to investigate. While surveying the region, they found that Leviathan had stranded herself in a newly-formed canyon before another tremor hit the area and opened another fissure. When they sighted Quake exiting an overturned transport, Geomotus smelled trouble and went back to keep Leviathan company; when the pair overheard the sounds of the conflict, Geomotus watched as Leviathan finally transformed into robot mode to fight the Rise. Tremors

As the inexplicable tectonic events continued to shake the planet, Geomotus and his fellow academics convened in Crystal City to contact the reclusive Senator Straxxus in Darkmount. Although Highbrow merely wished to secure the mothballed Arks stored in the city, Geomotus was far more interested in discussing Straxxus's latest papers and corroborated the senator's theories regarding the intensifying geological activity—based on Straxxus's calculations, he speculated that a correctly angled groundquake could theoretically destroy the Sea of Rust's impermeable layer and cause untold damage to the planet. Escape Part Two

Y'all gotta get a load of Geo Motus!

When increased tectonic activity threatened to crumble the continental shelf that isolated the Sea of Rust from the rest of the planet, Highbrow sent Geomotus and Landmine to plant a network of early-warning sensors that would track any further disturbances. While scouting the shoreline, the pair met Termagax, who offered them sanctuary inside her walking House moments before a Decepticon patrol searching for the Enigma of Combination spotted her. Geomotus alerted Highbrow of the encounter, and Optimus Prime sent out a team of Autobots to protect Termagax after Shockwave accosted her with a swarm of Insecticons. Sea of Rust I After eliminating the Insecticons, the Autobots dug in as they expected further Decepticon incursions. Wheeljack encouraged Geomotus and Landmine to clear the area, as non-combatants would be just as threatened as soldiers when the fighting came. Sea of Rust II As they fled, however, Geomotus received data from their sensors. He called back to warn Optimus Prime the fault lines were becoming unstable, and the subsequent collapse would release the ravenous rust worms back into the planetary strata. Enigmatic

During the search for Exarchon, Geomotus and Landmine lent their geological expertise to Sureshot and Pointblank's expedition to the Sonic Canyons while the Decepticons marched on Crystal City. The group stumbled across one of Exarchon's hidden bases and tripped a group of automated turrets. Amidst the crossfire, Geomotus detected an artificial shaft, and while Zetar investigated the other Autobots were confronted by Exarchon himself in Deathsaurus' body. War's End Part One Much smaller than their pursuer, the Autobots huddled in one of the Canyons' cracks before Zetar returned, leading the group down one of his tunnels and into Exarchon's fortress. War's End Part Two Left in a storeroom with Landmine, Geomotus found solace with his shapes and invited his friend to join in. War's End Part Three

As Exarchon implanted part of his spark into an enormous driller and began his final descent towards the AllSpark, Geomotus and the other Autobots pursued Exarchon underground with the intent of heading the insane conqueror off before he could reach the core of the planet. Using his on-board instruments, Geomotus guided Zetar as he drilled after Exarchon, but when Soundblaster caught up with the group, Geomotus took cover while the other Autobots fought and ultimately defeated Exarchon and his followers. After fleeing the subsequent cave-in, Geomotus and his friends returned to the surface of Cybertron unharmed. War's End Part Four

Geomotus made his way to Darkmount and abandoned Cybertron with the others aboard the last Ark. He bonded with Subsea as they flew their way towards the Winged Moon. Fate of Cybertron
