2019 IDW continuity

[edit]

Azimuth, Geomotus, Beachcomber and Landmine investigated some unusual tectonic activity in the Cybertronian wilderness at Highbrow's request. However, while on a routine survey, they stumbled across the irate Leviathan, who had fallen into a fissure. Azimuth suggested that she could simply transform and climb out, but Leviathan angrily pointed out that her vehicle mode was her true form now.

As another quake struck, Azimuth's team investigated the site only to be attacked by members of the Rise, finding themselves caught in the middle of the firefight when Novastar's team arrived. Tremors

Back at the Academy of Research in Crystal City, Azimuth stood with Highbrow as he attempted to negotiate with Straxxus for the mothballed Arks. Escape Part Two

Toys

[edit]

Generation 2

[edit]
  • Autobot (Watch, 1993)
    • Accessories: Watchband
Through a series of hijinks Azimuth was inadvertently(?) repurposed from Generation 2 Autobot. See "Notes" below.
Autobot originated in the 1983 Microman Micro Change line as MC-06 Watch Robo, where he was available in four different colors. In 1993, he was released directly by Takara in North America as part of Generation 2, alongside Scorpia and the wristwatches of Superion, Galvatron, and Ultra Magnus.
He transforms from a boxy silver chrome robot to a boxy functional digital watch that attaches to a plastic wristband.

Notes

[edit]
Happy for you though, or sorry that happened.
  • Azimuth is, of course, a cross-continuity adaptation of the Azimuth from the Aligned continuity family, who debuted in The Covenant of Primus. Though Azimuth did not physically appear in the Covenant of Primus book, Ask Vector Prime revealed that she had a body based on on one of Takara's MC-06 Kronoform toys. While Ask Vector Prime established that she was based on the gold Kronoform toy, the IDW comic gives her a silver color scheme, which likely stemmed from the photo on Azimuth's wiki article more prominently displaying that figure.
    • Perhaps coincidentally, this silver color scheme would go on to be released in the Generation 2 toyline as the creatively named character Autobot, thus granting Azimuth her first official Transformers toy! You're welcome?
  • While Azimuth's chest screen in the 2019 IDW comic still displays numbers, instead of telling time they seem to display geographical coordinates based on her location. Neat!
