Grip-Lock

Grip-Lock is an Autobot-allied Combatronian Mini-Con from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

A native of the lost Autobot colony world Combatron, Commander Grip-Lock (of the Fifth Heavy Assault Mini-Con Division, Alpha-Delta East Platoon, Irontread Squad Number One-One-Three-Eight) is one of few survivors of the cataclysmic wars that ravaged his planet. Those wars have left this old 'bot weary and suspicious of outsiders.

Timelines

[edit]

Surviving the war that devastated Combatron, Grip-Lock remained at his post with his Bulk partner Whirl and his Mini-Con compatriots Thunderstick and Skysickle. When the Decepticon ship Upstart landed on the planet, Grip-Lock observed them from afar. Whirl attacked Blurr, an Autobot who had arrived simultaneously, and when his comrades came to investigate, Grip-Lock attacked Armorhide until Longrack convinced the Combatronians to stand down. Grip-Lock joined his comrades and their new Autobot allies in an assault on the Decepticons, who had raided a vast underground arsenal and produced an army of Decepticlones, to boot. While the battle raged around them, Skysickle and Grip-Lock hijacked the Upstart and destroyed the Decepticlone scanner template, breaking the Decepticons' control over them. Force of Habit

Galaxy Force

[edit]
  • Clamp (Micron Booster, 2005)
  • Booster ID number: 4
Galaxy Force Clamp is a redeco of the Armada Mini-Con Refute, transforming into a Cybertronic vehicle with a large forward gripper claw. A gear-wheel system moves the gripper-clamp when rolled along in vehicle mode, or when attached to the gearing system on the underside of the Armada Cyclonus mold (in theory, at least). This toy uses the retooled version with the shorter "fins" on the vehicle mode back end.
He was available only as part of the fourth Micron Booster assortment in Japan, Clamp came in a "blind-packed" box that prevented the buyer from knowing the contents of the box until it was opened.

Notes

[edit]
  • Many fans place Clamp as the Mini-Con partner of the Autobot Longrack, as Clamp's mold is the partner to the original mold used to make Longrack. While the packaging for the assortment Clamp was available in does not give any of the Mini-Cons a faction affiliation, the Fun Publications prose story "Force of Habit" did portray Clamp (renamed Grip-Lock) as an Autobot ally, but did not partner him with Longrack.
