Decepticlone

Decepticlones are mechanisms from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
Marching in the street, dragging iron feet...

Decepticlones are, as their name suggests, Decepticon warriors cloned in massive numbers. They follow a simple directive: Destroy all Autobots, no matter the cost. To create Decepticlones, a special device scans a Transformer, then uses their base schematics to design a stripped-down drone. Large-scale Decepticlone production can be done in manufacturing plants, but there are also portable units that can assemble one Decepticlone at a time.

Decepticlones are largely autonomous and display no sentience, though some models have a higher degree of artificial intelligence and combat skill, attempting to evade enemy attacks or use stealth in their approach. Also, most Decepticlones show no signs of transformation capability. Due to their sheer number, they have allowed Megatron to nearly conquer all of Cybertron, and have overrun many locations since being dispatched to Earth.

Timelines

[edit]

The warring factions of Combatron used Decepticlones in their world-spanning conflicts. Nearly all of the scanners were destroyed in these wars, but one portable Decepticlone scanner was hidden away in a "doomsday arsenal" beneath the planet's surface. Hundreds of years later, that scanner was accidentally discovered by a small group of Decepticons. Using Buzzsaw, Swindle, and Runamuck as templates, the Decepticons soon mustered an army of Decepticlones, which Brushguard planned to use to scour the galaxy for the lost Cyber Planet Keys. He first used them to down a group of Autobots who had found Combatron just as they had, but the scanner was soon destroyed by the Mini-Con Skysickle, and most of the Decepticlones were destroyed when the Autobot Armorhide flew the Spanner into the arsenal. Transformers (PS2)

[edit]

The Decepticlones were the backbone of the Decepticon army, overruning the Autobot capital on Cybertron before following Megatron to Earth in pursuit of the Mini-Cons. The regions scouted by the Autobots in search of Mini-Cons were always swarming with Decepticlones, though they never seemed to actually take any of the Mini-Con panels that were just lying around. They constituted the primary threat faced by the Autobots in their missions, providing waves of expendable (though some models were far from harmless) enemies to be mowed down until an actual Decepticon would have to step in. After Megatron's defeat, the Decepticlones seemed to vanish, allowing the Autobots to deal with Unicron and reclaim Cybertron. Transformers

Merchandise

Attacktix

[edit]
  • Transformers Booster Pack (2-pack, 2006)
ID number: TF03
Rarity:
Faction: Decepticon
Class: Trooper
Special: Attackback - 4/26 (15%)
Point Cost: 10
Base Speed: 4
Attack Type: Shooter (small missile)

Released in the first (and ultimately only) wave of Transformers-themed Attacktix toys, the Decepticlone piece is a minimally-posable figure permanently affixed to a base that "ticks" off movement points when rolled forward, based on the Light Unit model. A "Shooter"-type figure, its right arm ends in a massive (and fairly powerful) spring-loaded missile launcher used to knock down other pieces. It features swivel articulation at the neck, shoulders and waist. Despite being a small-based figure with a large arm, the Decepticlone is surprisingly well-balanced. He's especially difficult to knock down when supporting himself with his launcher arm in a 'tripod' configuration.
The figure's "Attackback" Special Power provides any of your active Decepticon figures an immediate free move and attack.
The Decepticlone was randomly packed into the 2-piece "Booster Pack" assortment. Each box contained one "Rare" piece (like the Decepticlone) and one "Super Rare", with there being twice as many potential Super Rare characters available. On top of that, each piece has a roughly 1 in 8 chance of coming with a super-shiny silver-chrome base rather than the standard black; this is merely a cosmetic difference and no point values have been changed.
There is another variant to this figure, with some lacking the metallic blue paint on the sides of the torso. It is uncertain if the chrome-base version of the toy has both versions of the figure atop it or not.

Does your spark pulse true for the red, white, and blue?
  • Starter Set (Multi-pack, 2006)
ID number: P01
Rarity:
Faction: Decepticon
Class: Trooper
Special: Rally - 4/26 (15%)
Point Cost: 10
Base Speed: 4
Attack Type: Shooter (small missile)

A white and red redeco of the Decepticlone piece was available only in a Walmart exclusive release of the Series 1 Starter Set, which also contained Overhaul, Dirt Boss, and Skyblast in both robot and vehicle modes.
Its new "Rally" power allows the Decepticlone to bring another figure back from the graveyard.

Third time is apparently not the charm.
  • Transformers Booster Pack (2-pack, 2007)
ID number: TF04
Rarity:
Faction: Decepticon
Class: Trooper
Special: Shootback
Point Cost: 10
Base Speed: 4
Attack Type: Shooter (small missile)

A second redeco of the Decepticlone, in purple with bronze and black detailing, was seen in catalogs and promotional displays for the second series of Transformers Attacktix, but went unreleased (along with the rest of that series).
It is uncertain what its "Shootback" power actually did, but it likely meant that any active "Shooter"-type unit could get a free attack in.

Notes

[edit]
  • Cut dialogue transmissions present in the game indicate that Megatron had made a deal with the Junkions to produce the Decepticlone army using Hyper Power cloning tech. The Decepticons would then go on to raid Junkion in order to steal said technology, leaving the planet in ruin.<ref>Cut Transmissions - Unused Text - Transformers (PlayStation 2, International) - The Cutting Room Floor</ref>
    • Because this is cut content, it is questionable if this is a canon explanation regarding the origin of the Decepticlone army.
  • Earlier versions of the game had a "Jetbike" vehicle which both Medium Units and the player could drive around. Despite being cut, the Jetbike still shows up in some promotional renders (such as the one pictured in this article).
