Harold Edsel

"Who's 'scruffy-looking'?"

Harold Edsel had the bad luck of "starring" in a science fiction film along with Karen Fishook whose director became obsessed with using Hoist and several of the Autobots as his main characters (likely saving loads on his FX budget).

For reasons that are unclear, he bears some resemblance to the Star Warrior Han Solo.

Harold's (unnamed) film was off to a rough start, with an almost-botched stunt resulting in a group of Autobots being added to the cast. He soldiered on, lending his acting talents to the task of repeatedly crawling away from crashed vehicles and then kissing Karen Fishook as she ran up to him in alarm. The discovery of a crashed Decepticon jet in a swamp set, and the subsequent filming of the Decepticon recovery operation, saw the film retitled Attack of the Alien Robots and transformed into a science fiction epic, much to Harold's misery. Still, he persevered with the film. Here's hoping his contract wasn't based on a percentage of gross profits. Hoist Goes Hollywood

Notes

[edit]
  • Harold Edsel is a parody of Harrison Ford. The [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Ford Motor Company|{{#if:Ford|Ford|Ford Motor Company}}]] [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Edsel|{{#if:||Edsel}}]] pun was later reused for the mayor of Detroit in Animated.
  • In the original episode script, his name was Harrison Edsel. Evidently, someone must have thought this was a little too close to the real thing, hence the later revision.
  • His first character is based (in appearance) upon Indiana Jones, one of Harrison Ford's most famous roles.
